My husband and I visited Mon Plaisir for an early dinner and were hugely impressed by the experience. The front of house staff were attentive and friendly and the meal itself was simply delicious. Three courses each plus a couple of glasses of wine and coffee for less than £35 - an absolute bargain!

This is always a restaurant you can rely on the standard is always great and you can take friends and know that they are going to enjoy the evening as well, we have been visiting this restaurant for over 30years and the present owner is still keeping the high standard of quality ingredients, we love to visit and love the fact that we can always know the food will be great....

My partner took me to Mon Plaisir last night for my birthday and I would absolutely concur with the recent reviews. The quality and flavour of the food was excellent, the dishes were well presented and the portion sizes extremely generous.

The menu is varied and the restaurant also has a daily specials board, ensuring that even the fussiest eater should find something to enjoy. They have a "chef's special" 2 or 3 course menu which features a lot of the dishes from the Al a Carte menu, we didn't chose from the chef's specials, but it seems to offer good value for money.

Even though the restaurant is based in a cellar, it has a lovely light airy feel, thanks to clever lighting and light paint colours on the wall.

The owner was very attentive and really helpful without being over-bearing.

All in all a lovely relaxed small restaurant with good quality food and my partner and I would definitely eat there again.

Found this restaurant tucked away below a building in Hill Road and have wanted to try it for some time. Finally got round to it las night when we joined some old friends who were back in the UK from their adopted New Zealand.
The ambience, service and layout were great. We went for the midweek menu which offers fixed prices for two or three courses. No small portions here! The starters were generous and the sizeable main courses came with large helpings on potatoes and vegetables to share ( for those whose dishes were't already fully loaded). After the starter and main courses we were all too full to even think about a third course. Also, nothing was rushed and we had a lovely, leisurely
meal..indeed could not believe it was already 10 pm when my taxi arrived.
Highly recommend this restaurant. Very high quality food washed down with three bottles of fine wine...two courses, three bottles of wine for five of us for less than £125.
