I only spotted the vineyard on Google maps when I was looking for a walk to do around Cannington. I rang the vineyard a couple of days before and they recommended bringing a picnic with us. It's a v easy 2 mile walk from Cannington (or you could drive!) and the house and vineyard are in a superb spot in the Somerset countryside. The owners Ian and Jane were very welcoming on arrival and we were given an informal talk about their wines. My friend and I decided to share a bottle of "Jane's" wine with our picnic as there are 3 tables set out in the front of their farmhouse in a delightful garden setting (it did help that it was glorious weather as well!). Ian was very accommodating and kindly provided plates and knives rather than us using our paper plates and plastic knives. There was no hard sell at all and we were left to enjoy our wine and picnic whilst the owners dealt with some other visitors who had just arrived. English wine really has come a long way and we could see why they had won several awards, no surprise there as the quality was excellent! Ian came over afterwards and chatted to us and he kindly offered to drop off half a case of wine at our B&B in Cannington the next morning. All in all a very enjoyable way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Probably best to check their website when the vineyard is open as believe it is just Friday, Saturdays and Bank Hols. Would recommend a visit.
