Had a meal here with 12 others on Friday, couldn't fault it. Starters - pate stood out, mains very good with nice mix of veggies, puds - berry pavlova exceptional, nom, nom, nom!

A standard single plate of pub grub and a pint with Dark Horse, Big C and Tugger. This pub is larger than you imagine and has live music. The landlord apologised in advance for a wait on service but he needn't have as our food came quickly. Between us we had a Ploughman's Lunch, Ham, egg and chips twice and a small rump steak. The food was tasty and well prepared if a little unambitious. The Friendly Spirit did have an excellent hand pulled pint of Mathews a beer I'd never seen before; light, flowery and reminiscent of Timothy Taylor's Landlord. Overall the meal, pub, beer and venue did the trick after a day of catching up with mates. Don't go for anything too special but routine pub food at a fair price..

I visited this pub with family for a sunday carvery. We were not disappointed. There was a good meat and vegetable selection freshly prepared and generously carved by a very friendly members of staff. We sat in the conservatory with a garden view. The pub is popular with locals and families with children. All of the staff including bar staff with very welcoming and I would go back again.

Lovely , typical English pub set in great gardens. Waitresses were friendly and helpful. Some excellent daily specials. A good selection of wines and beers. The food was very good and certainly, I felt that our group of four all enjoyed the Friendly Spirit.

No ghosts of Christmas past in this friendly pub, just good beer, excellent and uncomplicated food beautifully presented. We visited with friends on their recommendation and would certainly go again.
