Went to watch live band on 15/2/2013. Great band good service at the bar though they should drop the rip off £2.50 for a glass of coke.

Good night had by all until the barman decided that it was time to prove that his muscles were more than a match for a local 18 year old. Thuggery of the worst kind. I appreciate that it is necessary to remove unwanted (banned) customers, but trying to rip his head off in front of new customers is not 1 of them.

I will not return to this pub. Pity I liked it until this prat showed his true colours.

Enjoyed a Valentine's meal at lunchtime today. Two courses for £6.95! The pub was quiet but fully booked for this evening which is always a good sign. The staff were attentive, chatty and helpful; I chose the beef curry and the jam roly poly with cream and my wife had the scampi off of the main menu.
The beef curry was very tasty and there was plenty of it. The scampi came with chips, side salad and peas and Sue struggled to eat it all (I helped her!).
There was a lovely atmosphere in the Friendly; only five tables were taken but the music was low enough not to disturb the ambiance. The staff didn't come to the table halfway through the meal to deliver the standard, mundane: "Is your meal ok?"...thank God! The pub is clean, well organised and seem to offer B&B too. A lovely meal with cracking food on a wide-ranging menu; we'll definately be back and very soon! Really well done to The Friendly!

I used to live in the Cannington area some 9 yrs ago and this pub was spectaculaur for food and country atmosphere. However, i visited again whilst visiting family. We ordered 7 meals, so can apreciate that was a lt of food. One meal was a pork steak, with vegetables and new potatoes. The potatoes were rock hard, the veg overcooked and the pork was bloody. Upon complianining i was told there was little which could e done as i had eaten half the pork. The barstaff were very nice and friendly. The waiting staff were very rude and i was surprised how much this pub had gone down hill. such a shame.

Some of my relatives booked this pub, as a place for us all to catch up. Although this was not their first time in this pub, it was ours. They made the booking here as they occasionally eat in the bistro with a sports group.
From the moment we walked in through the door, we were made to feel welcome. The atmosphere was one to be treasured. The warmth wafted all over us as we walked in through the door. Each and every member of staff went out of their way. Their smiles were genuine, unlike some places. The bar area was fairly busy, so we all ate in a separate conservatory -like area. This particular area has much larger tables, allowing it to cater for larger groups. One complete wall behind us was glass, so we could look out to the children's play area. Being a Monday, no school children were in the play area at the time.
As with most pubs, they have a blackboard describing the day's special meals. As it turned out, none of us chose from the blackboard. The rest of my group chose the scampi as their mains. I decided to be different and had the steak. All the others commented about how delicious their scampi was. Certainly, my steak could not be faulted, it being so tender it almost melted in the mouth.
When it came to choosing desserts, I had no hesitation in choosing their home made lemon merangue pie. Without a doubt, this was by far the best lemon merangue I have tasted in a long time. Most places do not make it tart enough. this was just about as sharp as it could be.
Each and every one of us left feeling full and contented. With very reasonable prices and good food, we will ensure that we return the next time we are in Somerset.
