Some of my relatives booked this pub, as a place for us all to catch up. Although this was not their first time in this pub, it was ours. They made the booking here as they occasionally eat in the bistro with a sports group.
From the moment we walked in through the door, we were made to feel welcome. The atmosphere was one to be treasured. The warmth wafted all over us as we walked in through the door. Each and every member of staff went out of their way. Their smiles were genuine, unlike some places. The bar area was fairly busy, so we all ate in a separate conservatory -like area. This particular area has much larger tables, allowing it to cater for larger groups. One complete wall behind us was glass, so we could look out to the children's play area. Being a Monday, no school children were in the play area at the time.
As with most pubs, they have a blackboard describing the day's special meals. As it turned out, none of us chose from the blackboard. The rest of my group chose the scampi as their mains. I decided to be different and had the steak. All the others commented about how delicious their scampi was. Certainly, my steak could not be faulted, it being so tender it almost melted in the mouth.
When it came to choosing desserts, I had no hesitation in choosing their home made lemon merangue pie. Without a doubt, this was by far the best lemon merangue I have tasted in a long time. Most places do not make it tart enough. this was just about as sharp as it could be.
Each and every one of us left feeling full and contented. With very reasonable prices and good food, we will ensure that we return the next time we are in Somerset.
