“Great meal and experience”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

Was in the area and did a quick search for somewhere to eat. Ended up here on a sunday night and we had the carvery and a homemade cheesecake each.
We were immediately recognised as outsiders by our accent but were made to feel very welcome. The food was excellent and I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.
I think we paid about £45 for 2 carveries, 2 sweets and 4 drinks.

“One of the very best!”
Reviewed June 28, 2014

We were staying in the area for a weeks holiday and came upon this little gem by pure chance.
The Crown Inn is an old worldy country pub with a variety of drinks available. The menu has a large variety of food. We settled for the carvery and were not disappointed in our choice of dish.
Everything is freshly cooked to perfection on the premises and locally sourced. Not a frozen veg in sight and this is what makes this pub unique. The couple who run it are very friendly and welcoming, the staff are likewise and the atmosphere is magic. The prices are very reasonable and most of all the service is 100%

“Loved your pub”
Reviewed June 21, 2014

Relaxed atmosphere, friendly and great honest and unpretentious home cooked pub food which is becoming so rare. I had a lamb tagine with couscous, delicious but I did notice that the steaks platters were generous and seemed to be very popular indeed. The food was really very good indeed. I worked up an appetite before by a walk to the nearby nature reserve, glad I did.

One thing I agree with others about a lick of paint on the outside building, it could put punters off and that would be a pity because this is a gem. I refuse to take a star off because so often you get a beautifully manicured pub only to be disappointed when you enter the door, this is completely the reverse.

We love our pub too, really pleased your enjoyed our food, the pub currently looks two different colours as it is having a lick of paint at the moment, and when finished will look much better, inside it's not perfect burn holes in the carpet, thanks to the log fire rustic furniture etc but I love the fact it's not been modernised like so many places have been, hope to see you again soon

“Mixed feelings about this pub.”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

Could do better to quote one of my school reports! The welcome was very friendly and the beer was OK. The generous portion of food was just about OK but my steak was cooked more than I would have liked and the salad was rather tired though the chips were first class. The appearance is rather neglected and a good lick of paint would make a difference. This pub is out of the village and needs to improve to compete with better establishments in the area.
