“The best B & B ever”
Reviewed January 23, 2012

The information on the Dolffanog Fawr website promised much and it more than lived up to expectation. The welcome was warm and friendly, the service excellent but unobtrusive, the food delicious, the rooms stylish and comfortable. As to the location, it was stunning with wonderful views in every direction. Will we ever find another B & B to match it?
Everything provided was of the highest quality - toiletries, linen, refreshment tray etc.
The hot tub in the garden is wonderful at the end of a day's walking. One of our fondest memories is of drinking Welsh sparkling wine from the very reasonably priced wine list while relaxing in the hot tub on our wedding anniversary, enjoying those wonderful views, including the sheep. Magic! There is so much to explore in the area that we will have to return, a good excuse to enjoy more pampering at Dolffanog Fawr.

This B & B has to be one of the best on all points. Alex and Lorraine make you feel so welcome, the location is stunning and the standard of accommodtion is definitely 5 star.
My husband and I stayed for 4 nights here and our only regret is that we didnt eat in every night. We only booked to eat on our first night thinking it would be nice to try out some local restaurants, but take our advice DONT BOTHER. We did not find anywhere that was a patch on the beautiful meal that Lorraine cooked for us, we even had a small bottle of champagne and an excellent bottle of red, not to mention the local beers!! Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, even serving drinks in the Hot tub in the garden while we watched the sun set over the mountain - BLISS

From the moment you arrive to the time you leave 'Dolffanog Fawr', you will be in for a treat!
The hosts Alex and Lorraine leave nothing to chance - this is an outstanding B&B in all respects.
Set in a beautiful location on the edge of the Tal-y-llyn Lake beneath Cader Idris.
The accommodation is modern & stylish, while still retaining the character of the old 18th centuary farmhouse, with beautifully appointed bedrooms & bathrooms. Beds are large & comfortabe & all linen & towels of high quality.
Lorraine is an excellent cook providing you with delicious breakfasts & superb 3 course evening meals.Sadly she does not cook on Sunday or Monday evenings & finding somewhere else to eat that can provide the quality she does is extremely hard! Alex not to be outdone provides you with an extensive wine list at very favourable prices & he certainly knows his stuff.
This young, enthusiastic couple & their son open their home to you.
We are eagerly awaiting our next visit in 2012.

We arrived on the Thursday after a 5 hour drive and received an extremely warm welcome from Alex and Lorraine the owners of Dolffanog Fawr. We stayed for 3 nights and had a great time, the food is superb, the wine is out of this world (compared to restaurant prices the extensive wines on offer were all competitively priced) and the view from our room - Dysinni, sorry if I've mis-spelt it is stunning.

The room was clean (and stylish), the bed large and the bathroom modern, we loved it.

You can walk up Cadair Idris from the door as we did (well we got a lift to a different starting point) or take a leisurely stroll along the lake shore, both offer amazing scenery and a tranquil escape from the "rat race"...

Alex and Lorraine are wonderful hosts, friendly, relaxed and genuinely interested in making sure people who stay at their Bed and Breakfast have a great time in and around Snowdonia.

We can't recommend their B&B highly enough!

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear have the best views over the lake and out to Cadair Idris

The hosts are wonderful and the accommodation excellent. Lorraine does not cook on Sunday or Monday evening so you'll need to find somewhere else which is very good to match her standards on those evenings. The rooms have the wow factor and although close to the road, noise will not be a problem here. Alex stocks some good wines but try not to get carried away on his large inventory of single malt whisky! It is well worth travelling a long way to stay here.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the lake have the best views.

If you want a perfect place to explore North and Mid Wales or just to relax, look no further! This beautiful establishment is the best B&B we ever stayed at! Everything was superb: the room, the food, the owners, the setting… The moment we arrived we were welcomed by Lorraine who is a fantastic cook: both breakfast and dinner were truly delicious! Even the vegetarian dishes were a delight. We stayed at the Wnion room for three nights and wished we booked for longer… The room was spacious, very clean with magnificent views to both Tal-y-llyn Lake and the hills. The modern bathroom had high quality finishes. This B&B is a real gem and deserves more than five stars (it has already got a Gold Award). We were sorry to leave and would definitely stay here again!
THANK YOU, Alex and Lorraine!
