“Rude”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

We were left waiting for a quarter of an hour, repeatedly ignored by a waitress, when we made ourselves known to her (and informed her that we'd been ignored) we were seated and thought that all was well. The landlord then came over and laid into us for the perceived slight, was incredibly rude, and seemed to have some misconceptions regarding the type of business he was running. Needless to say we left immediately, and will not be darkening their door again. Not exactly the friendly welcome we were expecting given the other reviews!

“Great quality pub food”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

Went out looking for lunch on a quiet September Saturday.
As others have said, it offered a small menu but seemed to cover all the expected bases.
I had a Steak and Ale pie with delicious home made chips and peas. It was absolutely first class - tasty gravy and great puff pastry! My wife had cod and chips with mushy peas - again great quality and well cooked. Everything was cooked to order and arrived promptly
I have to say the portions were quite large - which was great as we were very hungry; but sadly meant we didn't have room for pudding! Also had wifi courtesy of BTFon!

“Small & friendly with home cooked food”
Reviewed July 24, 2012

We called in to the Dog on recommendation. It is a small pub in the beautiful village of Worfield.
Don't expect a huge menu, just good pub favourites & NOT out of the freezer from the cash & carry.
But it is cooked to order, home produced & excellent.
Staff were very friendly, the pub was a mixture of locals & people like us, looking for a good meal.
We had the sirloin steak & the beef & ale pie, both very tasty & cooked to perfection.
The chips were home made, you could here the them being chopped when an order went in to the kitchen.
Looking around at others, they were eating home made curries, chilli, excellent looking sausages & there was also fresh fish on the menu.
We had a glass of wine & an appletise & the whole thing was only £22.
Great value, great food & great atmosphere.
Highly recommended if you like good basic food.
