We've eaten here on a number of occasions and always enjoyed the food so when we wanted a take-away last night (Thursday) we decided to come here again. When I arrived I noticed that the name of the restaurant has changed to Spice of Shifnal; I'm not sure whether this means a change of ownership too but certainly the quality of the food was nowhere near to what I've come to expect.
We ordered a chicken tikka starter, a mushroom potato and spinach rogan josh, a vegetable biriyani and naan / chips. The chips were awful but that's our fault for ordering chips from an Indian restaurant (!!!), the tikka was 5 very small (bitesize) pieces lost within a few onions and just seemed no better than what you can get in a supermarket. My rogan josh was missing it's mushrooms and flavour. It did have fresh tomatoes but 4-5 whole ones in one small dish; was that to mask the missing mushrooms? The vegetable biriyani also lacked flavour and most was thrown away. The naan bread was light, fluffy and light but without a decent main course it became a chore to eat.
Basically this meal was not a good experience for us at all and I doubt we will head back any time soon, or again. Now I'm not sure if this is a taste of things to come at Spice of Shifnal or just a bad night for the kitchen but either way it was a let down and a waste of money, sadly.
