“Enjoyable”

We had an excellent evening with lots of tasty food and excellent service. Massive portions, maybe to big if being over critical. Maybe the menu could be a little bigger but all in all lovely evening.

“A great evening.”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

Whilst staying in a local hotel we were advised that Odfellows was worth the visit and after having missed it the first night ending up in a "locals pub" with some very friendly but very strange customers, we we glad we found it at the second attempt. We received a very friendly welcome and were promptly seated at a candle lit table. The specials board offered some tempting original dishes but we both chose from the limited but adequate main menu. The food was beautifully cooked and accompanied by an excellent local ale and really good house wine. Lovely atmosphere, the place was buzzing early at 6.30 which is always a good sign.We enjoyed it so much we returned the next evening! Highly recommended.

“Gone downhill”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

Used to come here regularly but been a few years and thought would have a trip down memory lane, really disappointed. Like the earlier reviewer said, the large specials board much reduced and a regular menu. When we arrived it would have been nice to have been greeted by a smile, the girl behind the bar looked like we were putting her out. Went through to the restaurant and our order was taken fairly quickly. My starter was the grilled goats cheese, it was only after I had finished I realised it had come without the promised pine nuts. Never mind it tasted good enough and I really enjoyed it. By now we had run out of drinks, despite looking across at the 3 waitresses who had nothing more to do than chat with each other in the end I had to walk over and ask if we could order another drink. (I also noticed the people on the next table had run our of drinks too so prompted the waitress that they too may wish to order another drink.) Main meal came, lamb tagine, at £12.95 not the cheapest on the menu, it came with cous cous which tasted soapy. Maybe a poor choice, my partner had the chicken. I remember the time at Oddfellows when you had bowls of vegetables and chips/potatoes separate to serve yourself, no extras anymore just what is on your plate. Not sure I will be rushing back here, mediocre food and poor service.

“Splendid place”
Reviewed September 4, 2013 via mobile

Conveniently located next to the very good Woods Dry Cleaners, in case you get in a mess, Odfellows offers something for everyone. Good range of beers, including there own brew, good wine list, many by the glass. Welcomes drinkers and diners alike, kids welcome in restaurant area. The food is good, lite bites to a la carte. Watchout for the Rail Ale Trail beer festival. R.A.T.
