Description: The Navigation Inn is an 18th Century canalside inn serving home made food using seasonal and ethically sourced ingredients. We offer superb real ales, and a great selection of wines and other drinks. Whether you want to enjoy a meal or just want to stop for a drink or three our dining room and bars offer relaxed and characterful spaces. We also have a canalside patio where you can enjoy al fresco dining and drinking. Dogs and children are also welcome! Our food is home made and the quality of the ingredients we use is particularly important to us. All raw meat products supplied by our catering butcher are fully traceable in origin and we insist that he sources meat that conforms to our welfare standards. Many products such as lamb, pork (including sausages and bacon) and eggs are purchased from local farms where we deal directly with the producer. All of our meat is ethically produced and wherever possible free range. (Eggs, chicken and pork are 100% free range) We will always try to buy locally and support the farming community who we value so much. We use Fish Fight guidelines to ensure that seafood is sourced from sustainable fisheries. Our menus are created using these criteria and with a firm eye on the seasonality of the ingredients. Brent and Mark have owned The Navigation for nearly 11 years and continue to strive to offer you a relaxed visit with excellent service, food and drink. They are very ably supported by Head Chef Jack who has been running the kitchen for 5 years and by Sous Chef Craig. In addition our waiters, waitresses, cleaner and kitchen assistants are all here to enhance your visit. Your security is overseen by the tireless (and occasionally vocal) presence of Belle and Sebastienne, our German Shepherds.

On our first narrow boat trip (we came from the US) we stopped here after our 4 hour journey from the top of the Montgomery canal (Frankton Locks). I had researched this Pub on TripAdvisor and was looking forward to enjoying the food, drink etc. Unfortunately I guess I missed the fact that they close for food at 2pm on Sunday (it was now 4pm). Lucky for the 4 of us, the chef was sitting at the bar having a pint and I asked him if he could do anything. At first he said no, but then I explained our situation and with nothing to eat nearby he said he would see what he could do. As we sat and drank a few he came back about 20 minutes later with a bunch of roast beef wrapped in tin foil as well as some sandwich breads. We hung around the pub a couple more hours enjoying drinks and free Wi-Fi. I think we closed the place down, which on Sunday night happens to be 6pm. Then we went back to the boat and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.

Came with a group of walkers along the Montgomery Canal. Lovely day. Had booked a table for us. Being midweek it seemed rather quiet. We received a warm and friendly welcome. Excellent beer.

We had a wide choice from the menu between us and everyone really enjoyed their meals. Delicious desserts as well. Will definitely visit again. Superb lunch.

Came down the Montgomery Canal on a narrowboat and moored outside. Enjoyed the pepper crusted fillet steak and the rhubarb bakewell tart to follow. Staff were very helpful and accommodating of our two son's special needs. Highly recommended :-)

We have visited the Navigation on a few occasions now and it has never disappointed. The food is well presented and good value although the sweet selection is a bit expensive. The ale is well kept and worth the visit. All in all a good village pub/restaurant in a great location by the canal.

We had a fortnight on the Llangollen and Montgomery Canals, and this pub stood out as the very best. It was a friendly pub with welcoming atmosphere, locals warmly chatted with us. The meal was excellent and not as expensive as others along the canals. Topping this off was an 8 round pub quizz which we came second in, a great evening out!
