“Short break stay”
Reviewed April 18, 2014

My hubby and myself stayed at The Fox Inn last week. We took along our little 21 month old granddaughter. We stayed in one of the annex rooms. Ours was twin bedded and there was plenty of room for the travel cot and also her toys!!! The room had a lot of character and had everything we needed. John welcomed us when we arrived and showed us to our room. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast each morning. There is a booster seat too if one is needed for toddlers. We enjoyed two meals in the restaurant and found them to be delicious and so well presented. We had a round table in the alcove area so we didn't have to worry about being in anyone's way and john also provided a box of toys for esmae to play with by the table. All the staff were polite and so friendly and helpful. There is a nice bar and lounge area so you can have a drink while waiting for your meal.
Only one minor thing that we found that could be easily rectified and that is an outside light might be an idea in the annex area. Would Definately stay at The Fox Inn if we visit shropshire again.

Room Tip: Annex room on ground floor was ideal for families with a young child.

We also had the voucher deal and were pleased to visit a part of England we hadnt been to before. The bedroom was lovely, we loved all the beams - the decor was very nice too and as said before the whole place was very quirky. I think the only thing that spoiled it was the plastic flower garlands around the mirrors in the dining area - which isnt really a big issue - but the place is beautiful enough with them. One little moan - I came down one afternoon to ask about something and there was no-one around even though there was music playing in the kitchen - I knocked on the door but there was no reply. I think a bell or something would be handy just to alert the staff that someone is looking for them - but that saying - it wasnt a major issue.

Room Tip: There are only 7 rooms - I couldnt imagine any of them being bad.

We went to just have a look around Much Wenlock as we were dog sitting in Brockton. Came across The Fox, and even though all the tables in the dining room were booked they made room for us at one of the tables in the bar. Lovely food and at a good price. Would highly recommend, but worth phoning ahead and booking.

Enjoyed our stay, but only a bath no shower. Low beams in room 7 so beware if you are tall. No outside light, so dangerous down steps in the dark.
Good, hot breakfast. Friendly service.
Had a woucher voucher, so pleased we did not have to pay full price.

We had a wowcher deal for a two night stay and the room was spacious if a little querky. The hotel is quite an old building so the beams and the uneven floor are to be expected. The decor was a little tired but the rooms were clean and comfortable although our bed had a definite creak. The restaurant was fine and we had a lovely meal although the desserts were rather small and a little disappointing for the price. Breakfast was well cooked and the owner chef very accommodating when my wife asked for a gluten free meal. The inn is well positioned to explore the village of Much Wenlock

Stayed for 2 nights on a Wowcher deal so can't really complain for the price. However,if I paid the correct price I would be very disappointed. This eclectic hotel which means nothing matches is in dire need of a face lift and could be very nice indeed a major need is a decent extractor as the whole hotel smells of frying.

We had dinner the first night ribeye steak which was lovely and cooked just right the hand cooked chips however were not cooked properly at all and the home cooked pud NOT home cooked as I was lead to believe..Like the hotel the menu is all over the place which is a shame as we would probably had a meal the second nite of our stay Don't let this put you off though its worth a try i .Breakfast on the other hand was very good.

John when he is not trying to be funny at your expense is very nice, welcoming and helpful.

Had a super meal at the fox.
Received a really warm welcome. Nice bar for pre-dinner drink then into the beautifully decorated restaurant. Cosy but not too intimate.
Nice mix of traditional, French and Italian style food choices.
Our meals were really well presented, very tasty and the service was excellent, nothing seemed too much trouble and the Chef seemed sincerely interested in what we thought.
