“One night B&B double room 2 people”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2013

We stayed one night in this Inn, the staff were very hospitable and the food was good.

Unfortunately the room we had was 2 star standard but we paid £85 for the night which is more like 5 star price. The TV in the room was a very small old style TV with a free view box attached, this would need to be upgraded to warrant the charge, also the shower controls were on the bath taps so needed to fiddle with the hot and cold taps to get the right temperature, the pull knob to direct the flow to the shower head was broken and not replaced.

This room would not be suitable for people not to steady on their feet as the floors were very uneven and sloping, but this is an old public house so this is to be expected, but thought people needed to know.

We have stayed in premier inns with rooms and facilities better than this.

We were on a two night weekend break visiting the local area. The village is very quiet with only a couple of places to eat. The Inn is typical old English with a few tasteful updates. Food was excellent especially breakfast. Good value too. Annex we stayed in was clean, tidy and quiet. Only criticism was that the bathroom didn't have a shower. That must be fixed!

After being flooded out of our tent in a nearby campsite we popped into this b&b without booking and were immediately welcomed and given a room. All of the staff and the owners were incredibly friendly and even dried all of our stuff out for us. The room we stayed in was beautifully decorated and the beds were to die for! We had the best nights sleep! We opted for the themed menu which was 3 courses for £12.95. The theme was French and it was delicious and beautifully presented. The food was served quickly and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful, it was obvious to us that they all very much enjoy their jobs. The breakfast was lovely, we had the option to have a cooked breakfast, cereal, tea, coffee and orange juice. Would recommend this b&b to anyone visiting, especially to those aiming to visit Ironbridge as its only a short drive down the road. We will definitely be going again. Much Wenloch is a lovely village with some incredibly beautiful period buildings and some lovely walks nearby.

Room Tip: Our room was on the ground floor and so had a lovely view onto the street and saved us carrying our...

Stayed 3 nights on a business trip to avoid staying in Shrewsbury or Telford. Met on arrival by the owners who are so friendly and look after you so well at all times. Ate in 2 night and food was good. The rooms are very individual as you would expect in an old Inn and mine was fine, except for the shower temperature varying wildly. Colleagues were less lucky with one fumbling for a corridor light switch amd managing to set the Fire Alarm off, so room allocation can be a bit of a lottery.

Room Tip: Don;t take rooms in the annexe unless you have to

Just returned from The Fox Inn, Much Wenlock, cosy, warm and fantastic food, what else can you ask for. John 'the scotty' Davison (as we have named him) was a welcome host full of the 'scottish patter'. Your impersonation of the scottish accent can only be matched with whats under your chefs apron !!! the only thing missing was a shower and hairdryer but didn't take away from the enjoyment of our stay.

Thank you for all your hospitality and hope to visit again.

I've always wanted to go back to Much Wenlock, a wonderful town in the fabulous county of Shropshire so we chose to go to a show at the new 'Edge' centre recently opened in the town. The hotel is in a really great location situated at the top end of the High Street. It's clearly an old building with quirky sloping floors with odd-angled walls and ceilings which all add character to the place. Landlord/chef/receptionist John (we didn't get to meet his wife) and all staff are welcoming, friendly and informative about the place. The menu was just right and our two favourite meals were on the specials (ribeye steak and sea bass) and although they only had one draught on, it happened to be a very good draught indeed. We also noticed they proudly displayed their Trip Advisor 'recommended' certificate in reception.

We'd gone primarily to see the great mimic, Alistair McGowan, that nights act at The Edge and to quickly sum up the area, he said that before every show he gives, he wanders around the town looking for things to pick on to embarrass the area to get a laugh out of the locals. On this occasion though, he said he just could not find any fault at all as the area is just too perfect to insult!

If you want and old shabby smelly hotel then this is for you. Stayed through Groupon and the special "groupon" menu is very basic. Meat and no veg and anything extra costs! Check your bill at the end they added overs I didn't have. The beds creak badly and although the hosts see very pleasant all they want is to get your money. If you want a good meal home cooked and reasonably priced go down the road to the George and Dragon pub.
