“Relaxing week”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

My husband and I spent a very enjoyable week here. Our first impressions of the site were very good. We were met by a pleasant and friendly lady who gave us a map of the park and directions to our lodge- kingfisher number15. It was furnished nicely and had everything that we needed although not the best view as we had lodges all around us. Initially we thought that there wasn't a lot to do around us although this wasn't a concern as we wanted to relax. However, we were surprised by how beautiful the scenery around was. We walked to the nearby tearooms and enjoyed our tea and cake ther though it could do with a clean. Stoke say castle was an interesting and informative visit.
Another day we went to Ludlow and that was delightful and we spent a good few hours there, walking by the river. We had a lovely meal at the Lion inn in Lleintwardine but the best meal was at the 100 years Inn at Peslow- the portions were enormous and very well cooked at a very reasonable price.
It was lovely to sit on the verandah of the lodge and listen to the peace and watch the rabbits. It certainly helped to recharge our batteries. On the way home we stopped at Church Stretton and that was a lovely place to visit. We went for a walk in the park and for walkers or cyclists there are plenty of trails to follow.
We agreed that we had had a pleasant and relaxing week and would like to return to this area and investigate it further as we are sure there is more to discover.

Just returned from Ashela Pools, all I can say is outstanding!! The Park is beautifuly laid out with all the lodges centred around the lake. We stayed in a Kingfisher Plus which had two bedrooms one with an ensuite with shower and a family bathroom, the lounge area was spacious and the kitchen had everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday including a welcome pack with Tea, Coffee, Milk, Sugar, Hot Chocolate, Biscuits and Fudge which was just great after the long journey!
The decking had a patio set so you could enjoy the beautiful views of the Shropshire Hills, it also had a hot tub which was a hit!! The site has a small shop and the staff a very friendly and helpful. I would definately recommend a visit to Ashlea Pools if you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday, I will definately be going again!

This site is just what the doctor ordered, Me and my family stayed in lodge no.12 which was classed as a family V.I.P and i have to say thats just how we felt.
The lodge was lovely, clean and with every mod con you can think of, it was very spacious and had the added bonus of the hot tub sucken into the decking - which is where my kids spent most of there time.
All the lodges, which vary in size are all situated so you have a nice view of the lake in the centre of the site, the grounds of the site are excellently maintained and the staff were friendly and helpfull.
The one outstanding thing about this site apart from the comments above was the piece and quiet, sitting on the decking with a beer in the sun and i am sure you could have heard a pin drop a mlle away and thats with our kids and some others on site.

I cannot recommend this site enough when a break from the hussle and bussle of life is needed because thats what i needed and thats what i got.

We will be returning when work and money allow.

We stayed in Lodge No 18 which was gorgeous, all mod cons and super hot tub. Site very well maintained, just a bit more rural than we used to. Would recommend West Midlands Safari park in Bewdley for families, which is about an hour's drive away. It was great being able to get the train from Hopton Heath to Shrewsbury, even though you have to flag it down! Ludlow was really nice and only a short drive away. Our trip to Aberystwyth was good, although is just under 2 hours drive. The site deserves its 5 star rating.

We stayed as a group of friends for a 40th birthday for a long weekend in a 3 bedroom lodge with hot tub. We all agreed it was fantastic. From the quality of the lodge design and fittings, to the furnishings and the canadian hot tub it was super. The people are also a real credit to this place, you are made to feel so welcome with lots of little extras in the lodge that we were not expecting!

This place is quite far from 'things to do' but we knew that and were not going to tour around. We took all food and drink and games and spent the weekend holed up in the lodge and the hot tub. In fact we need not have bothered with the games as there is a vast selection in the laundry room. Even though there is no scripted entertainment or facilities i would defy any child to be bored here with what is available in that room alone!

The site is immaculate and has a high percentage of private owners, we did worry about being too noisy but everyone seemed to be so relaxed and we didn't attract any complaints, even when we were in the hot tub at night with the 'disco lights'.

There is a playing field and there are cricket sets etc, there is also a dog field and the lake. There is now a small shop with a good range of local produce and essentials to keep you going, but you would need to bring some main meal food or be prepared to drive to shops or pubs.

Train service from the request stop station (Hopton Heath) at the end of the park which if we were staying longer we would definitely have used, very convenient but check the times there are only a few.

A lovely quality lodge in a beautiful location, perfect for a get away from it all break.

Room Tip: Double room has a good sized en-suite but the bed is really too small for a couple.

We stayed here over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend and it was surprisingly quiet. Our log cabin had a hot tub, which was lovely, but could have done with being a bit more private. Rooms inside were spacious and very clean. The Lamona appliances aren't the best and we had trouble getting the dishwasher to operate, but apart from that it was a perfect holiday. The Lion in Leintwardine is lovely and staff are very friendly and the Jolly Frog is nice for evening meals. Great location to tour around.
