“Great homecooked food”

passed this place many times between Leafield and Witney and finally decided to stop in for a bite to eat. Great atmosphere and welcoming staff and the food tastes great with plenty of choice.

Will be back when passing again.

we stayed here for 1 night after previously staying 16 years ago
we were not disappointed - the food and ambience were excellent
our room could have benefitted from a coat of paint but it was very comfortable
we hope to visit again but we wont wait 16 years!

When we first walked in we were really impressed with the atmosphere and then even more with the room which was lovely and roomy, unfortunately asked for a quiet room but it was next to the delivery area so definitely had an early morning wake up call. The bed was broken which we were advised happened the day before but the manager couldn't find out where, so when we showed him they offered to move us but we had already unpacked and so we temporarily fixed the bed. The menu in the restaurant had a good choice of options but again spoilt by my king prawns being overcooked, which they immediately offered to replace but as my hubby had nearly finished his dinner I declined the offer and they didn't charge for my meal, but the evening (our 30th wedding anniversary) was spoiled. Apparently it is under new management and we would definitely like to go back there in a year to find out how the family have improved things and we wish them all the luck in the world to do this

Room Tip: Not room 3

Stayed here overnight and booked a family room which turned out to be massive and able to sleep 4-6 in comfort. The rooms are in a newer motel section that matches the older inn at the front. The room was comfy and warm on a cold night and the view and sounds of the hills at dusk and again in the morning were worth being here. The inn owner is obviously a staunch Wales rugby supporter and this is obvious in the inn décor. We had dinner in the restaurant and our selection was nice but not the quality we would expect for the higher prices charged. Service was great and the breakfast was very tasty with a good selection cooked to order. .

Room Tip: If travelling in a group choose a family room as it is a good size for 4-6 adults.

We enjoyed a lovely light lunch here recently. A generous helping, fresh and very tasty. The service was good - friendly, helpful but not at all pushy. The atmosphere was pleasant and I would go again.

We stopped by the Bird in the Hand for lunch on a Friday afternoon on our way to the Cotswolds because of its listing in an Alistair Sawday book. If you are a rugby aficionado, you might appreciate the rugby memorabilia.
The atmosphere is nice and comfortable but the food we had was just okay. I had the fish and chips and my husband order a sandwich. They were both fine but not what I expect from a Sawday listing. We drove out of our way to visit the pub and won’t do that in future.

This was an oasis for me as I had previously booked at another hotel which turned out to be awful. The contrast was amazing - staff at the Bird are welcoming and can't do enough for you. Lovely bright spacious rooms with comfy beds and good linen (I was in a twin) and very good bathrooms. The standard of cleaning is generally high until i had to put my hand behind the tv to push the cable in - cobwebs :( Tea and coffee and house water renewed every day. Very good full English breakfast included along with cereal, juice etc, great coffee, but the breakfast is let down by the value-bread toast. The bar/restaurant has a Welsh rugby theme but it is tasteful. You may need to book in the restaurant as it gets pretty busy but the service remains very good. The food in restaurant is pretty good overall - great steaks, but a few little glitches with some of the basic items. Please don't let my little criticisms put you off - this is a great little Inn with friendly and helpful staff - definitely recommended and I would stay here again. Plenty of parking and really good wifi everywhere.

Room Tip: Room 2 right next to where deliveries arrive - quite noisy early in morning.
