A very comfortable and pleasant hotel. Extremely good value. Large, clean rooms. Very polite and helpful staff. I am very picky with hotels, and if I am in the area again I would stay here without a seconds thought. It is a very pleasant hotel, and offers more than the usual chains can offer - friendly and helpful staff, generous rooms and a more than comfortable stay. Highly recommended.

We paid £83 for dinner bed and breakfast. The dinner comprised a set 3 course menu (exc drinks) or an allowance of £17 against the a la carte menu. The set menu was uninspiring and we saw the small portions being served to others so we opted to use our allowance against the a la carte menu. Our allowances only covered 1 and a bit courses and so we paid the difference. The main meals (priced around £15) were bland and tasteless; the "rich red wine sauce" with the lamb shank was just gravy; the olives with the antipasto starter were old and shrivelled.

Overall the food and drinks were expensive - in total we paid £125 for a night's accommodation, a two-course meal for two and a glass of wine each. Considering the food was bland and simple, this felt a bit too much.

In contrast... the hotel staff were very friendly, the leisure club was good (albeit very small) and the room was fine. Breakfast was good, with a nice range of food and attentive service. Overall, a satisfactory stay but hugely let down by the bland, boring and over-priced food. This would put me off coming again - either make the set menu more appealing or increase the allowance against the a la carte so that you can have more than 1 course without paying extra.

My partner and I stayed here for a short break before our proper honeymoon. Our honeymoon was 3 weeks after the wedding so we stayed in Whitney for the weekend after the wedding for a bit of holiday shopping!

The staff at Four Pillars were extremely friendly and helpful and even upgraded us free of charge to one of their four poster suites. The swimming pool and whirlpool are excellent and a great place to relax and unwind.

The food is fantastic. We had great breakfasts every day and the restaurant in the evening served high quality dishes. We were given a food allowance towards our meal (included in our room rates) and this was plenty to have starter and main or main and pudding.

This was the second time we stayed here and I'm sure we'll be back in the future.

I stayed at the Witney Four Pillars for one night on January 14th before a conference the following day.
I received a good and informative service at check-in.
The room was comfortable although a little on the small side. Facilities within the room were fine: tv, coffeee making facilities, trouser press, safe etc. The main problems with the room were noisy fans outside (possibly air/con for leisure facilities) which ran till 11pm and switched back on before 6am. I am not a light sleeper, but I couldn't sleep with the constant rumbling sound. The other issue was an extremely weak and pathetic shower (room was only on 1st floor).
The leisure facilities were of a good standard and open for long hours.
The breakfast was very nice and the service and facilities for our conference were also of a good standard.
Overall an OK stay but £85 a night was a bit pricey.

Problems in a nutshell....

Bed was the worst I have ever slept in and when we dug deeper we saw the centre of the bed was filled in with felt and had 2 matress protectors on.
Planes from the RAF base were audible from our room.
Towels, bathrobes, slippers, water, glasses and tea and coffee were not present in the room as specified and had to be requested from reception.
We booked a table for dinner at 8.30pm but a table was not found for us until 9pm.
At dinner we were seated in the middle of a convention by the enterance to the kitchen and had to sit through their speeches and awards ceremony. We were not made aware of this convention at any point despite having made contact with the hotel several times prior to our arrival. Each time we contacted the hotel we specified it was our anniversairy and were looking for a romantic break.
We were not served by the same waiter/waitress more than once.
The starters were overcooked and one did not match the description on the menu. One main course was over cooked and the other was cold in the middle.
When checking out we asked to see the manager to complain but were refused and told that there was not duty manager on site. We were advised to email our complaint.
The spa was nice!

Arrived here with family members on a Bank Holiday weekend for a 3 night DBB Package.. Although we were offered rooms on different floors they were soon changed (to next to each other )at our request. There was no lift but only 2 floors and help was offered with luggage .
The room was spacious, airy ,well decorated and very clean. So was the bathroom which contained complimentary toiletries (even face cloths) which were regularly replenished. There was plenty of lighting with low-energy bulbs, an iron and ironing board, professional -style hairdryer, digital TV and even a safe large enough to hold a laptop.
Leisure facilities (Gym, pool, sauna, steamroom ,jacuzzi )were free for our stay.
There was adequate, safe on-site parking at the hotel.
The hotel was re-furbished in Jan 08 and although the restaurant looked very contemporary it lacked adequate lighting so appeared rather dark.
The evening menu for 'Package' guests was rather limited and portions of starters and sweets quite small but the breakfast hot and cold buffet was excellent.
The whole staff from housekeeping ,waiters to managers were polite, friendly and courteous at all times which was really great.
As a single guest staying in a twin room I was charged an extra £15 per night........bit unfair maybe ??

All in all a very enjoyable stay in a very clean and comfortable hotel on the outskirts of a lovely town (Witney).

Stayed at the four Pillars for 3 nights. Check in ok, room ok...would describe the hotel as quaint. My room was quite big, bathroom ok, clean but shower disappointing. you had to play with lamps to get them to come on, bit strange!!

The daily room service seemed very inconsistent, there were about 7 of us and each one of us had an issue...e.g some got no towels, relenished tea coffee or toiletries.

Bar area nice, quite trendy, staff were a bit under pressure at times. Main restaurant was good.

There is a pool and small gym.

Overall just felt there was something missing....
