“Nice hotel good facilities but slow service and no lift”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

We stayed here due to moving house relocation the check in was slow and we had issues with the room key. The room service was difficult to order and service was slow but food was very nice. The breakfast was fantastic and the rooms were very clean and extremely comfortable. The pool was perfect for our little boy and the changing facilities were good and clean. A garage is opposite for food/snack/drinks top ups!

Stayed for a murder mystery weekend.

Good things;
1. Great location for Oxford / Cotswolds / Blenheim Palace
2. Room was decent size and clean
3. The waiting staff at the event were great

Not so good things;
1. Check-in was slow, at about 4.30pm on a Friday
2. They put a 'freeze' on £200 on your bank card just in case, and then the freeze isn't released until 3-5 days later...not necessary and not great.
3. Wow the bar prices are high, £2.85 for a coke
4. Not enough staff on the bar
5. The bar closed before midnight on Saturday, we were a party of 18 and were prepared to pay their high prices but they closed so early
6. Towels weren't replaced by housekeeping after cleaning the room
7. The food at the event was poor, I understand it's difficult to cater for a big event but it was as if the food had been cooked hours earlier and then blast heated which resulted in very dry beef and fondant and mash potatoes that were too dry and too hard to eat, and high numbers do not justify poor food

I guess I would stay at the hotel again just for convenience but search out a local restaurant and bar!

Stayed one night on a Saturday night whilst attending a family event in Witney. Looked online and no rooms were available as required to stay minimum of 2 nights stayed. Phoned them up and secured a room for the one night for a good price. Arrived and greeted with a welcoming smile. Had something to eat in the bar area and very tasty. Booking a taxi was equally not a problem to arrange for us.

Stayed in Room 11 which is the room to the left of the entrance courtyard. Large room and large comfy double bed. Ok not boutique design that everyone expects nowadays but clean and tidy.
Only down side I had was an interconnecting door to the next room and that the walls were quite thin. People in the next room may as well have been staying in the same room as noise travels!

Breakfast in the morning was a large buffet style and everything available. Wife ordered kippers off the menu and equally tasty.

Well situated off the main road and could be noisy if you were in a room next to the road but we enjoyed our stay and would be back again.

You get what you pay for and we thought the deal for a 3 course meal, disco, bed and breakfast was worth every penny.
The receptionist told us that breakfast ended at 9 am Sunday morning, but in fact it was 10 am! but check in was easy and paid up front.
The room had a lovey view of allotments which was nice and quiet and although it was basic and small it was clean and adequate for one night.
The sauna and steam room is small but we didn't mind as there weren't many people around so it wasn't very busy.
In the evening the bar was packed and with only 2 bar staff on it did take a while to get served but staff worked hard and was pleasant enough.
We had a table near the door which wasn't to bad until the outside door was left open when smokers went out and left it open! so we had quite a cold draft and placed so close to the huge speakers of the disco it was quite deafening!
However, food was nice and hot and staff efficient, disco great, although we would have enjoyed more 70's music we had a great night!
Breakfast was buffet style with a nice selection of fruit and hot food which could have been hotter but tasted fine.
The town in Witney is worth a visit, there is free parking and quite a few nice shops near by.

Room Tip: No air condition but you do get a fan

Firstly the check in process was a nightmare as it seemed that the desk had mixed up my booking, taking them an age to sort out the complication their end. After that i experienced a cold shower and internet connection of approximately 24k......I'm sorry my experience in this case was poor. Avoid .

Stayed for 1 night to attend a wedding in Witney. Room was quite small and bed was equally small (seemed to be a narrow double) but was very clean. I was concerned that the mattress would be too soft having read another review but it was supportive and comfortable.

The room was on the A40 side and traffic levels were quite noisy with the window open. Would request a room at the back if we were to visit again.

Used the pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. Bit of a strange set up to have to go back through changing room to the entrance area to access sauna and steam room from the pool area! Again though, it was all clean and adequate for a hotel of this size. Wish I'd showered and washed my hair in the leisure club instead of returning to the room where the water pressure was incredibly low.

Breakfast was hot and plentiful, porridge cooked nicely! Regarly topped up supplies. Note that they do clear the buffet away promptly at closing time though.

Free wifi in the hotel requires an email address to register but is easy to access and speedy enough.

Good stay an friendly, polite staff. Would definitely consider staying here again if needed to be in the area.

Stayed for one night on 4 October as attended a nearby wedding. Room was ready by 12.30pm as wedding was at 2pm. Very efficient at reception and a good plentiful breakfast was enjoyed the next morning. Enjoyed the 'extras' of the Connoisseur room. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Connoisseur rooms are worth paying the extra.
