My parents, husband, son and I ate at the Rose Revived at the weekend. We initially sat outside - the setting is lovely right by the river and shaded by willow trees. However, we were sadly forced inside soon after (along with about 4 other tables of diners) by the plague of wasps that descended even before we had any food or drink on the table! (Some cintronella or wasp traps would work wonders!)
The landlady (Janet?) kindly found us a table inside even though it was incredibly busy and a bit chaotic!
Ordering the food took quite a while - we had decided on a relatively light lunch of sandwiches and jacket potatoes - however when we go to the bar we were told by the girl at the bar that these were not served on a sunday - disappointing - we queried it and a colleague confirmed this so we began to re-choose our meals! The landlady must have overheard our conversation and said that they in fact DO serve jackets and sandwiches on sundays (apparently they are listed on another of the multitude of different menus that seemed to be around!) We then had to change everything back to what we originally wanted! Bit of a hassle and didn't really help the huge queues that were building up behind us!
We didn't have to wait too long for food and when it arrived it was good, hot and tasty. We all enjoyed our meals and I think we would go back if we were in the area again.

After a recent management change In July 2015 we underwent a major 6 figure refurbishment, we now enjoy the best location, the best building, hospitality and food. Things are on the up! definitely with another try

It seems we were lucky in our experience at the Rose Revived, as we had no problems with service at all - perhaps because we arrived for a late dinner just before 9pm when the pub was fairly quiet, and the garden empty as it was dark.
It's in a beautiful location under the willow trees, and as we were on a boating weekend, we moored up a little way down the towpath and walked to the pub. Inside was large and attractively decorated with lots of dining areas, and it had a warm atmosphere. There were a number of staff about who served us promptly and efficiently.
The menu was large if slightly unexciting. We opted for lasagne and a sirloin steak. Lasagne was good, though the side salad it came with was a bit too drenched in dressing. However the sirloin steak was a bit overcooked and grisly so a bit of a disappointment. We also shared a Jamaican Gingerbread Cheesecake for dessert, which was more ginger cake than cheesecake so not quite what we were expecting. Would be happy to stop here again though, since it's in such a great location and our experience was a good one overall.

This isn't the first time we've eaten here and it won't be the last. This is a lovely location by the Thames. The food is a notch up from pub food, and not too expensive. My wife and I both had steak this visit at mid-afternoon, and it was tender and tasty. Trade was busy, but the staff were very attentive. Would definitely recommend.

Had to wait to find a table even though we had booked. Had to queue to order food and then had a long wait before it arrived. Seemed very disorganized, simply taking more bookings than they could reasonably cope with.

This pub has a very attractive setting - riverside tables in summer and often cheerful fires inside in winter. However, it appears chronically understaffed. If ever we forget our resolution never to go near it on sunny summer days, we regret it immediately. The pleasant outside tables are ruined by the sight of uncleared plates and rubbish strewn ground. Inside there are often huge queues for ordering at the bar. The food is ordinary and I suspect most of it is bought in. So - a mixed response. Really pleasant of a winter evening if you are not too fussy about the food. But a place to avoid in summer.
