“Not inflated price and service is ok”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

I stayed here as single for a night yesterday so my review is very FRESH! I am doing the Thames Path to beat the River Thames so it is a budget trip to cover nearly two weeks consecutive stays at different locations. Choices between Lechlade and Oxford are not many and you have to pay sometimes inflated price for a night stay to cover the area.

Before I get the quote for a single stay for 45 pounds (as of Apr 2013) from the Inn, I got quotes of 65 and 75 from b&bs around, which are a bit too pricey for a traveller doing the path.

The staff are friendly and the room is clean and very spacious for single. What do you need more if you get comfortable service for the good price? The Inn is literally ON the Thames Path and you do not need to walk around to locate accommodation that sometimes troubles travelers not familiar with the area. My overall rating goes 4 stars out of 5.

We stayed here for one night. Landlord was helpful and friendly. Room was clean, beds were comfortable. Heating did not come on until we were about to leave in the morning at 8am. Shower room was a joke! Needs a revamp! Did not eat here so cannot comment. Staff and local clientele were friendly in the bar. What a waste of a beautiful location-could be a gold mine. This is why Premier Inn does so well-at least you know what you are getting! Luckily the place was quiet, could be very noisy if downstairs was busy I'm sure.

As you would expect from staying at a pub. Room 1 was a reasonable size but the shower room was very small. Good view over the river. Evening meal was good pub grub. It was explained when we arrived that a full English breakfast was extra. We were happy with this as we only wanted a light breakfast so we did not have to pay for something we didn't want. The bird watching while we ate breakfast was fantastic we sat and watched a pair of kingfishers sitting on a bush just across the river for several minutes. All in all good value for money.

Stopped here while continuing on Thames path form Oxford. Locals use the pub, and we went out for dinner (pub in local town - with the post office in it too!) - but the rooms were great. Some have a balcony , so if its busy in the Summer , you could have your own space. You can leave your car there during the day, whilst walking in / walking on if you tell them your reg etc. Cooked brekkie was good, and I think the husband and wife combo would do anything to help your stay be better. I was walking with my dad, who never sleeps in hotels - and he slept like a log, and loved the river setting. Impressive indeed. No baths, and small, unpowerful shower, but a lot cheaper than other locals, and more rooms. I'd ask if they have functions on during the summer if staying - as they have a large function space ..... Would have thought it would be good for walking group of mates or young ish family (once kids not going to go into river!)

Room Tip: Big room with balcony, above pub is a goodie. There are private tables up there.

Stayed for one night whilst walking the Thames Path. We didn't have great expectations, but found it perfectly fine (despite a rather brusque "welcome" from the barmaid on arrival!). Comfortable, clean room. Good value pub grub. Met the very friendly landlord and landlady over a plentiful, well cooked breakfast the next morning. Recommended!

My husband and I used this B&B for overnight accommodation whilst walking the Thames Path. Our stay coincided with David Walliams' sponsored swim of the R Thames. All the other residents at the time of our visit were BBC personnel. They seemed satisfied, and so were we. For a pub 'in the middle of nowhere' the welcome was warm and sincere.

The inn is situated right on the banks of the Thames at the end of one of its most beautiful stretches. The ensuite twin room I had was large clean and comfortable, with freeview TV and tea / coffee facilities. Rather more importantly, it offered fabulous views of the Thames rolling past about 10 feet outside my window. The pub itself is non-descript, bordering on a bit shabby, but it serves good hearty food from an extensive menu and quality ales.

Pub B&Bs are not a great idea if you are a light sleeper, as you are aware of the hubbub from downstairs, but I was there on a saturday night and was not disturbed.

Cooked breakfast costs extra and the continental options are run of the mill, but the welcome is very friendly.
