Description: Small family run restaurant just off the market square in historic Wantage. Beautifully presented freshly cooked food from local suppliers. Fresh fish and seafood daily. 2 hour free parking in close proximity to the restaurant.

Went here in awful wet weather and was really cheered up by the high standard of the food and its presentation.
I had the delicious long cooked belly pork with red cabbage and would recommend it wholeheartedly. I thought it represented excellent value for money and it was very reasonably priced for a really tasty, quality piece of meat.
The interior decor is minimalist and, as the restaurant wasn't very full when we visited (midweek and appalling weather), it was hard to know if it would be echo-ey if it were full.
There is parking close by - first 2 hours free during the daytime and the town looked interesting enough to be worth exploring. There is a super knitting and sewing craft shop next door, which could be an added incentive to make a day-time visit to this restaurant!!. I hope it succeeds as it deserves to and is so much better than many "chain" restaurants.

Nice to find a restaurant close to home that is really trying hard to offer an interesting menu at fair prices with friendly service. The wine list although not vast has an interesting mix at fair prices and the menu will please many people. Lighting could probably do with dimming a touch for dinner as the room seems a little stark and plain and would perhaps benefit from being a little softer. So do yourself a favour book a table and give them a chance they really do deserve to succeed.

After our fourth visit it deserves another review. I wasn't permitted to submit my second as it was within a month of our first visit. This was a pity as my only (minor) criticicism first time had been the delay between ordering and receiving our first courses. No such problems on subsequent visits. Staff still knowledgeable and friendly, food excellent and the menu changed in September. Also very nice to chat to the chef/owner, who comes out when he has finished cooking. Very welcome addition to Wantage.

Party of four returning for a lunchtime visit this time, to taste the delights of fine cuisine, good wine and friendly, informative service.
Tasty starters that wetted the appetite(my SpringOnion/Herb Cake avec soft fried duck egg- devine), for the delicious main dishes, 'Grilled Lamb Cutlets', 'Sea Bream' and 'Sea Bass' selected from the 'Fresh catch of the day specials'. One of our party took the option of three courses from the lunchtime menu that was quite simply such great value for money.
Once again, desserts that were comparable to any of the best restaurants that I have experienced throughout the world, the 'creme brulee' and 'chocolate and orange pot' were a heavenly treat. Excellence indeed in every aspect.

Having read all the reviews, we finally tried this little Bistro restaurant, and yes, it is all very good. Not much more to add that hasn't already been said, but the service was good, the food lovely and the prices just slightly lower than average for the area. Only one tiny niggle - we wanted a table at 8.30, and were told not before 9 - so we arrived at 9 and the place was 3/4 empty - we were the only people in there by the time we were on main courses ....
