Ate here last night as 1 of a group of 8, we all eat here on a fairly regular basis, the food was great..
Poppadoms, mains, sides, rices, naans, couple of desserts and coffees, along with few drinks, really yummy and we were all pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived.
Would highly recommend.

“Simply the worst Indian we have ever eaten”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2012

Decided to try the Star on a Friday at 8.30pm, was surprised that it was near empty as they 'recommend to book to avoid disappointment'! Ordered the mixed platter for two as a starter, wish we hadn't, 1 piece of lamb, 1 piece of chicken, a cooked from frozen samosa, which management happily admitted to and an onion bhaji the size of a tennis ball each. Eating my onion bhaji it was stone cold in the middle, sending it back to the kitchen I half expected it to come back 'warmed up' but no a fresh one that was even bigger! It simply tasted terrible, burnt outside and a gloopy mess inside, the samosa only required one bite to avoid.
We ordered lamb and chicken tikka masala each with special and sag rice, I wish we hadn't bothered. Both the lamb and chicken required either steak knives or forearms like Popeye to cut through, the peas in the special rice were cooked from frozen, again management happy to confirm, the spinach in the sag was burnt leaving the rice completely tasteless and the masala itself totally devoid of any taste.
We were offered another curry as a replacement, but we had lost faith by then and simply did not trust the quality that would arrive, our compensation for a £55 meal that we did not eat was a free coffee for my wife as I do not drink coffee, my wife did not want me to make a stance as we wanted a nice evening out.
Hopelly next time the H.O raid the premises they take the chef.
I have eaten in every Indian restaurant within a 15 mile radius of Thame and if you want a decent curry this is a place to avoid, we will never eat here again.
Shame on the management for not having to foresight to understand the difference between grab the money now and repeat custom that then is recommended to potential new customers, they get a shameful 1 out of 10 from us.

“Previous meals have been excellent but our takeaway last night was awful.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2012

We have raved about the Star and Garter since it opened but our meal last night was awful. We had a chicken dish, prawn and lamb all of whih were really watery and pretty tasteless. What a disappointment and not one to releat for a £36 takeaway!

“Saturday night bedlam”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012

Do not go here on the weekend until they sort out the management of place.
The four of us went on a Saturday night and it was bedlam.
The tables were not managed properly as customers were waiting for over one hour for their table which they had previously booked (it was a similar story for the takeaway customers).
Their problem is its management as we wittnessed table and takeaway orders being mixed up and being delivered very late to the queues of frustrated customers. They cannot say no to taking orders with the standard 20 minute delivery which cannot be met.
The food consequently was delievered luke warm due to being rushed through the pressurised kitchen.
It is popular because it is cheaper than the rest of the Indian chains in Thame but that popularity is being destroyed by the poor management of the place. Hope they read this report and do something about it.
