“Great Overnight Stay.”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Great Halfway spot to meet our friends from Bristol. Friendly & helpful staff at both hotel and golf course. Rooms extremely comfortable and well appointed. We had good choice of menu for our evening meal again with good service. Happy to recommend this venue to friends and anyone who is looking for a good weekend break.

My wife and I stayed for two nights (Monday and Tuesday). I was due to attend a cookery course at Le Manoir on the Tuesday so we were looking for somewhere to stay nearby. The Oxfordshire fitted the bill nicely being a ten minute drive from Le Manoir. We had an executive room on the third floor which was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean.
My wife enjoyed some treatments in the Spa whilst I was attending the cookery course.
The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was just the ticket. Well done!
If you are due to play golf at the club or looking for a place to stay for a night or two while you are visiting Oxford or the surrounding district then, on the basis of my experience, I can recommend The Oxfordshire.
I hope you have just as pleasant a stay as I did.

I was looking for relaxing time it was just a nightmare.

As we arrived a bit early than expected we not being offered for a drink or nobody really cares about try and make the room available and we had to wait for 4 hours for the room.

As soon as we arrive in the hotel we have been informed than the spa was fully booked for the weekend.
Nobody informed us at the moment of the booking and To be honest i don't understand why somebody would go to a spa hotel if treatments are not available.
A spa hotel shouldn't be able to offer treatments for all their guests?

Food was really the worst part.
I had an hamburger the first day and it taste very bad and the other guest got food poison from scampi linguine.
Nothing was fresh or made with care... All very approximate and not tasty at all.

Breakfast was ok but waiters were really ruff and not well presented

We called the room service more than once and every time we have been advise that timing was not guaranteed because the kitchen was busy (???)
shouldn't they be able to deal with that??
and when we finally we got the food there were mistakes about the order...

The general atmosfere inside the hotel is a bit "conference meeting room" very dry and cold and dated. And there is not customer service at all.

I would not raccomend this place to anybody.

The setting is what the hotel is all about. When we stayed the wind was driving the M40 drone over the fields, sadly. The views from the restaurant are fab but more limiting from other areas. The room we had was nicely furnished but felt dark and non spacious. The bathroom was huge and the shower enormous! Everyone was very friendly, the evening food was good but breakfast was disappointing with what was on offer and the service was lacking. We never had time to try the Spa or golf course so can't comment. Would we go back? Not sure.....

eight of us visited for a family occasion and managed to book the four suites available for a small extra charge, they were sumptuous! well worth it. the rooms were exceptional. ensuites large and sumptious with luxury toiletries provided. the double balcony provided exellent views making the frosty landscape magical. eventhough the hotel is a little way outside Oxford the facilities make it well worth the stay. breakfast choice extensive, fresh food and it was hot.
front desk staff efficient and friendly and room service very efficient and the food was good.
all areas spotlessly clean.
would love to visit again and would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: we paid for a suite which cost little more than the executive rooms available. well worth it.

I reserved a room here in order to attend a wedding and was told one day before arriving that my room was no longer available. I was called by a woman named 'JADE' who explained due to 'engineering difficulties' my room was no longer available. It was a complete LIE and I caught her in it. They had given my room to another guest and decided to bump me to another hotel. It meant I was separated from the wedding party and I was offered no compensation. So, to sum up, a 'Booking' is not a Booking at this hotel as they can arbitrarily cancel it on you with barely a day's notice. Consider it if you are booking for any special occasion...Consider it and go elsewhere.

Excellent stay, coffee on arrival was followed by a visit to the pool for a swim and a spell in the jacuzzi. Fully relaxed, two hours were spent having a wonderful facial, massage and pedicure. A three course dinner overlooking the golf course was amazing, punctuated by watching the local wildlife (a pair of kites and a barn owl) out hunting. A full english breakfast was the crowning glory to a wonderful stay that ended too soon. Excellent service and value for money.
