Stayed at The Oxfordshire as part of a golf break with a group of golfers & non-golfers.
The accommodation, staff and food in the hotel were excellent and the condition of the course was first class.
The only complaint would be the cost of on-course beverages which bordered on the extortionate .Why do they do this ?
That moan apart I would highly recommend.

This was the second time I have stayed here in the past 3 months. We were attending a wedding and all of the wedding elements were excellent, food, service etc (drinks are a little pricey though, £3 for a J20 is steep). Where it falls down is on the hotel side. It was a better experience than last time, the check in was simple, and the suite was excellent, but we required extra bedding for the children and despite arranging it before we arrived it wasn't there when we checked in. I called reception and they said they would deliver it during the wedding breakfast but when we returned to the room at 2100 it hadn't arrived, not great when you have very tired children. It took another 10 minutes to arrive and then was quite limited.

Despite being in the suite there was only 2 bottles of water and there was no coffee and only 1 teapod for the coffee machine (loads of fruit tea and hot chocolate so I can only presume that it hadn't been refilled but very poor for the cost of the room).

Breakfast was good, much better than last time but despite mentioning it when we stayed before the tables were still only laid for 4 people, in just the 20 minutes we were there they had to rearrange 3 tables to account for groups of 5-7 which just seems madness.

All in all it was ok (2.5) out of 5, if it was cheaper then I would be comfortable with 3 or even edging towards 4 but at the price of the rooms they need to do much much better.

We held our wedding reception here in August and cannot fault the venue or the excellent service we received from Tanya, Florin, Irene and their teams. Nothing was too much trouble and our guests all commented favourably on the location, the food and the service.

We and a number of our guests stayed in the hotel for the wedding and, regrettably, the same high standard was not evident. The bridal suite (and we understand other rooms) had a coffee/tea maker but only one ordinary tea, several fruit teas and hot chocolate capsules - we had to request coffee. Check out was poor; the reception staff apparently having no information on the wedding accommodation arrangements, a problem we also had in the run up to the wedding when some of our guests were told that all rooms assigned to the wedding were taken - when they were not! These small failings detracted from an otherwise top rate experience. Fix these and it will be 5 STAR wedding venue.

This hotel looks very impressive - amazing views, excellent facilities, very clean and nicely finished. However once you scratch the surface there are a few little things that could be better - you just have to remind yourself how little you have paid for it! For example no tea in our room, had to ask for it, water didn't drain from shower, room very hot, reception unable to provide toiletries etc. Overall it is a nice place, and I would return here.

I think our experience was influenced by the fact that we have paid a lot more for a lot less in other hotels!

The hotel is in a fairly isolated location but it's only a short drive to civilization. I liked this as it was really peaceful, from our balcony (a rare thing in a UK hotel but all rooms have them - unfortunately some face inwards to an ugly courtyard) we had lovely views across the golf course and the Chilterns.

The staff were pleasant apart from one lady who checked us out and didn't seem to think it was necessary to acknowledge me, instead waiting for me to tell her what I wanted. But I'll let her off, it was Monday morning and everyone else was really helpful. Efficient room service too.

The hotel doesn't have a lot of character on the outside but when we actually got into our executive room I was so impressed, especially considering the price. It was huge, modern but not clinical and there were a few things which just made it special, namely:
- big, heavy bath towels - not these napkins they give you to dry yourself in some places
- a Tassimo drinks machine and generous amounts of yummy biscuits
- a huge bathroom with separate shower cubicle and a massive shower head
- a large mirrored wardrobe with lots of hangers
- sockets located in places that were actually useful - like next to a mirror!

My only gripe...they do the whole 'two beds pushed together to make a double' thing, which, as anyone who's tried one knows, ends up with you either sleeping in the crack in the middle or sleeping a metre away from your bed partner (maybe not such a bad thing depending on who your bed partner is).

I spent a lovely morning in the gym/spa. The gym is really well equipped - it even has a power plate. The spa is limited - pool, steam room and sauna, there probably isn't enough here if you particularly want a spa break but it was all very clean and modern. I also had a brilliant facial, my skin looked amazing the next day.

I would have liked to have stayed longer.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the inward facing rooms if you can.

We chose this hotel on last minute.com as it is still independantly owned and has a Spa which includes Pool, Jaccuzi, Steam room, Sauna and Treatment rooms! Beautiful location, spotlessly clean and some fun, professional quirky staff! The bedrooms are beautiful and have balconys which on a sunny weekend like ours - its just perfect. Several choices for food, on our first night we chose the more relaxed lounge where we tucked into delicious Chicken Liver Parfait followed by a crispy duck salad, great wine menu and great service! Our 2nd night we dressed for dinner and chose to eat in the Sakura Restaurant, again - faultless friendly service, food not as good as the night before but probably a bad choice on our behalf! Living at the seaside we should know better than to order Battered Haddock as it is never as good as that delivered by the seaside, still - would still award a hearty 8/10 and next time will learn and order differently! Would recommend this hotel if you fancy a quiet spa break or even a game of golf on their championship course! We will return!

We held our Wedding at the Oxfordshire and nothing was too much trouble for Ella, Florin and their teams. After having read some of the reviews on this site we were slightly concerned but we received the very best service. When some of the suppliers (chair covers), that we organised ourselves, did not arrive at the agreed time the Oxfordshire contacted them and the staff stayed late to make sure everything was done correctly. On the day, they ensured that everything ran perfectly and the food was good, we would even go so far as to say that the portions are a little too generous! We were given a complimentary suite, however we spent so little time in there due to an early start the next day that we did not really get the opportunity to appreciate it or the other facilities the hotel has to offer, but everything was very clean and comfortable.
We would not hesitate to recommend this revenue to anyone planning on getting married and hope to stay in the hotel again so that we can appreciate everything it has to offer.
