“Peaceful and beautiful, we had a wonderful stay”
Reviewed April 27, 2018 for a stay in April 2018

The Loft was a perfect pad for a jumping off point for our walks in the Cotswolds - down to the water medows and back at the local pub. We didn't need to jump in the car the whole time we stayed there. Perfect. We were really fortunate to be staying here when Chris and Delphie were setting up for the sculpture show. It was wonderful to walk around the magical gardens, straight out of Alice and Wonderland meets Hidcote Manor Gardens, and watch a stunning array of sculptures be installed each day. Just so sad we won't be there to enjoy it with Chris and Delphie who were knowledgeable hosts. The pavilion already a stunning feature will be incredible when complete. Can't wait to come back next year.

“Great fun exploring the gardens – and warming up in the hammam!”
Reviewed September 21, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

The Loft was quiet and tasteful and the gardens were a magical fairyland filled with fresh air and beautiful sculptures. The kids absolutely loved splashing around in the pool whilst my wife and I rather enjoyed the hammam! The homemade bread was a lovely bonus/surprise. Will definitely stay again.

“Very dissapointing”

We stayed in The Loft over Christmas. In my opinion it is over-priced for the standard it offers.

We paid over £1800 for the week. The apartment is generally quite tired and in need of a refresh. There are cracks everywhere, loose floor tiles in the bathroom, and dirty carpets. We also found the oven was filthy, and we spent over an hour giving it a thorough clean as it was billowing acrid smoke into the apartment and setting off the smoke alarms whenever we tried to use it. The owner said this was just some oil on the grill. The black sludge I removed suggested otherwise.

We had no internet for half the week which was frustrating.

In addition to these concerns the owner let themselves in when we were out. We expected total privacy to be a given at any price.

I wrote my feedback to the agent upon their request. The agent simply forwarded this to the owner (which does defeat the entire purpose of an agent) and the owner wrote me a response which begins in a somewhat facetious tone which I do not appreciate (I'm not permitted to include that due to Tripadvisor Ts&Cs).

We did not complain during our stay because it was Christmas and we (a) did not want to impact upon the owners Christmas and (b) had more important things to do ourselves as it was Christmas. We, of course, realise that the owner may have brought in a renovation team to re-skim and re-paint the walls, cleaners, and a ghost-writer to address the inaccuracies in the information back, but we figured for £1800 a week they should have been in before our arrival rather than during our stay.

However, the pool was fun, although it turned our swimming costumes yellow for some reason.

We have been offered a 10% discount next time we visit and we appreciate the gesture, although we are unlikely to return.

Hopefully we were just unlucky. We were told by the agent that they were not given access to inspect the property, which is why they pushed us for feedback. Having given that feedback I feel it is very bad form to then bring the owner and the customer together in the way that they have. The agent is supposed to liaise with both parties to avoid such direct situations and so Manor Cottages did fail us all by simply forwarding it and then expecting owner / customer to then argue the points.

So to summarise, it was not up to standard. We appreciate that we did not give the owner the opportunity to rectify the issues, but as it was Christmas we opted for the low maintenance approach because we had other things to worry about.

Once the points mentioned are addressed and privacy is totally respected, it will be a nice place to stay.
