We visited the Kingham Plough for my 40th birthday in February 2013. We were greeted by a very chatty and friendly barman (co-owner) who gave us an excellent run down of the day's menu. Turned out his wife is chef patron and 'star' of soon to be broadcast Great British Menu (South West region). We were offered drinks prior to being seated - six of us with our four legged friend! - and I was given an extra glass of fizz for my birthday! We were seated at the table and welcomed with warm bread and butter and a pig's ear for the dog, a very nice touch. Starters were yummie and the mains were too. We went for the cheese board for dessert and the kids were accomodated with a blend of icecream and shortbread. All together, a round of drinks + two courses for four adults + a cheese board and three courses for the kids + two bottles of decent wine was £300 including a tip. Perhaps slightly on the expensive side (hence four instead of five stars) but definitely worth the investment. The patron also promised to send us a signed copy of the days menu by his wife (she was abroad at the time) so we'll see if that arrives. If it does, I might be tempted to max out my rating.... ;)
