On arrival the table for four we had booked was not on the sheet, a table was available and given to us though.
At first service was good quick and helpful but after our first drinks we had to wait with empty glasses and even walk to the bar to ask for staff to come over and take drinks orders.
Although the standard of the food was ok it was nothing special. Starters were nicely balanced dishes. For mains the lamb was cooked well but pork and pheasant were both over cooked and a bit dry in places. Two of our group ordered white chocolate cheesecake for desert which tasted disgusting and was sent back to the kitchen. These 2 dishes were taken off our bill and after questioning a member of staff why it was so bad we were told that the chef had tested it and was sorry to say but it had gone off!
Because of the desert problem a complimentary round of drinks would have been a good gesture, but never came. Also for a place calling itself a gin house i found the staff knew very little about the gins they sold.
Some points were good but for every good there was a bad. Definitely room for improvement. Will not be hurrying back.
