we were having a short break in the Cotswolds visiting our past, it had been a long time since we had stayed in this area . we picked the Kings Head in Bledington , nr.stow on the wold , out of our bible THE GOOD PUB GUIDE. we were not disappointed , it was a cold night and the lovely open fires soon made us feel warm and cosy . the staff were young but very helpful and friendly. there are many rooms to choose from for drinkers and diners , we chose the room at the side of the bar with it`s own woodburner , and settled down with one of the real ales on offer. after studying the menu my husband ordered the steak and I the battered haddock both were fresh and very well cooked . the steak thick with garlic butter on top , both came with skinny chips which were tasty , but a choice of potatoes or fat chips would have been nice . but that is a small matter the meal was lovely , and we finished off our drinks in the bar by the open fire , the inn had started to fill up more and many people were enjoying the food and warm feeling of this inn . this is an expensive area to stay and this was not the cheapest meal we have ever had at £21 for the steak and £13.50 for the fish , but it was quality food and we will certainly drop in again . highly recommended.
