Very good evening and good food with lovely friends. A tad noisy as there was a big party of rowdy women on the table next to us. I don't think they realised how noisy they were but they were having fun. It was still a great night. Have the brownie & hazelnut dessert - yum yum!

My wife and I visited the Kings Head for an evening meal on 8 May during a brief visit to the Cotswolds. Although the pub itself is nothing special the food was excellent and we would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Unfortunately we waited until our last night in the Cotswolds to visit The Kings Head Inn in Bedington, for it turned out to be the best evening experience of our visit, with regard to both food and fun. We initially found the Inn when the day before we were checking out the most highly recommended eateries in the Cotswolds. We arrived there in the afternoon when the restaurant was closed for the break between lunch and dinner and we warmly greeted by owner Archie Orr-Evans who invited us in and showed us around. We loved it immediately as the place is full of charm having all the attributes of an old English Inn and a full and scrumptious looking menu. We made a reservation for the following evening.

Our hopes and expectations were exceeded in every way. We arrived to be greeted by Archie and his beautiful bride, Nicola (Nick), a great way to start, and from that moment, the experience just got better and better. There was a fun and active bar scene where everyone was friendly to this couple of American visitors. The Kings Head must be the neighborhood gathering place as everyone seemed to know everyone else. There was lots of good conversation, banter and laughter. And needless to say the beer and other adult beverages flowed liberally. But as much as I loved my pint(s), the food we had was even better. And with the poor rate of exchange dollars to Sterling, we also found the bill to be affordable and very reasonable. We left quite late, feeling very contented and happy, having feasted well and having made several new friends. It was a great all-around experience.

Although we didn't take advantage of it, we also learned the Kings Head is a fully functioning inn as well. The next time we visit we might choose to stay there so we can feast and party even later. We send our thanks and very best wishes to Archie and Nick for a fabulous night.

we were a large group (14 adults, 6 children, 4 babies) who booked in advance and were told we had to be finished by 2 as another party had booked (fine). we were also told that there were insuffucient high chairs.

the food didnt arrive for ages which put pressure on us to eat to be finished by 2 (which we weren't) and we had to have coffee's on the village green. Also the food came out in stages and there was no real awareness of who ordered what. the yoskshire puddings were dry and crispy and veggies small and tasteless.

the meal was overpriced (£7 for a dessert?!) and attitude of the staff not particularly helpful. The attitude seemed to be quite blase - "we dont need to bother with customer service and can charge what we want because we're in a pretty village in the Cotswolds".

To insinuate that we dont care about our customers proves that this customer is short on brain cells and I find his summary extremely one sided . If the large group had turned up on time ,as advised then we would not be in this situation . We were polite and courteous from the moment they arrived and despite the chaos of the large group which included 6 children and 4 babies, we managed as best we could . Are we expected to hold stacks of high chairs to cope with fleets of babies ? You say that the meal was expensive and use a £7 pudding to back up your one sided argument . You do not state that your Angus Roast Beef was £12.50 which is not expensive . We fed 134 people on Sunday and yours was the only table that we had difficulties with but I know that these would have been avoided if the group had turned up on time (12.30 when the last lot arrived ) and if you had got the kids choices sorted before they went out on the swings. These are things that we get blamed for and not rightly so ! You also did not mention in your review that we finally asked you (very politely) if you would n't mind moving off your table at 2.45 (45 mins later than we had originally told you when you booked). Just because we run a pub in a pretty Cotswolds village it does NOT mean that we do not care about our customers (as your review states)...Got to go its opening time and have to go and look after the punters....

We staying locally for an Easter break and came across this pub by chance, looked great and initial thoughts on entering was good, busy and great open fires. We sat in the restaurant where we were the only diners, wasn't a great choice on menu and expensive, the steak I had was tough & dry and we seemed to wait along time for any service and had to go to the bar to remind them about our order.
