A beautiful, charming place to stay, a lovely couple who run it, full of character, spotlessly clean, plenty of hot water, comfortable bed and lovely full English breakfast. Was made to feel extremely welcome, I didn't want to leave.

Room Tip: I chose a room with an en suite bathroom which was up in the eaves giving a cosy feel whilst still b...

We have used Judy and David's great place now for several visits over a several years and they have always been brilliant - the only problem has occasionally been getting a booking because they are (rightly) so popular! Warm welcome, great breakfasts, comfortable rooms and plenty of local knowledge / advice. Wi-fi helps for homework, too. Very highly recommended indeed.

Room Tip: en suite (for those for whom it matters!) upstairs in the second floor. 2 x shared bathrooms are bo...

We booked a double en suite room at The White House for a short weekend break. Even a four hours delay due to a car breakdown on arrival wasn't a problem. Judy welcomed us really friendly and warmhearted and showed us around their beautiful house. The room was absolutely lovely, georgous decoration, the stressfree and quiet retreat we were looking for. Breakfast was the time to meet David, he cooks it with you sitting at the dining table right in the kitchen, chatting and drinking tea which creates a very homely feeling. They are more than happy to provide you with lots of info on Oxford, the countryside, points of interest around and historical facts, and seem to know just about everything. Also, you're more than welcome to use the heated pool in the garden. We absolutely recommend staying there and would certainly come back whenever in the area!

We booked three rooms at The White House for family members for our Daughter’s wedding. David and Judy were most welcoming and we had unlimited access to our rooms and the gardens. It was wonderful. We sat in the garden making wedding decorations – in other places we would have been confined to our rooms. Breakfast was when we wanted it and what we wanted – such a refreshing change. After the wedding reception we sat in the kitchen drinking tea at 01:00 in the morning.
Thank you David & Judy for making our stay a real “Home from Home” experience – it certainly assisted in making the wedding weekend wonderful for us.
This may not be a "template chain" and there are certainly some quirky architectural points - but what else would you expect from a listed building!
The loft room has a huge bathroom/dressing room, but no shower - which would be very hard to fit in the eaves! The showers in the two bathrooms on the first floor were excellent and only just at the bottom of the stairs to our room.
I would recommend The White House without hesitation.

Room Tip: The en-suite loft room is lovely, accessed via a tight curving staircase

Just one night here while visiting Oxford. Lovely house in a quiet area. Reasonable rate for double room (with 2 shared bathrooms), which was large and comfortable. Hosts very obliging. Fresh milk for tea very much appreciated, though a mini fridge or small flask would be good, as it didn't last the night (but encouraged to refill from kitchen, which I did, so no probs). Breakfast fab! Many thanks.

Stayed here over night, the bedroom in the eaves, charming room in this 500 year old cottage. The owners are very friendly and made me feel very welcome. The only thing that spoiled it for me was there was no shower in the Ensuite just a bath, they could do with updating the bathroom.
On the whole a very good experience and would return.
