Have called in as a last minute twice on a Friday evening. Both times there has Bern a good atmosphere. Staff are friendly and welcoming and food is of a decent standard for the price we paid. Would recommend.

“The cover looks great, the book is illiterate.”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

The pub is situated just off a large round-a-bout on the Worksop By-pass and is very eye-catching bursting with tempting charm. It's easy to see why people decide to visit it. The interior is modern decor, sadly it has that "pub chain" feel to it and in many aspects the decor has been chosen for aesthetics rather than functionality, for example some of the chairs are child sized but look very nice.

The menu is your typical chain pub menu, burgers, steak etc but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you have gotten as far as browsing the menu then you obviously just want something to eat and are not looking for great culinary delights. The first thing that struck me about the menu was the number of spelling errors, I just found it surprising for a pub chain to have the laminated standard menu made without checking these things but that is by-the-by, we were there for food not Grammar lessons. We kept it simple, burger and a steak, we figured that with these being the Sizzling chains signature dishes it would be a good choice.

The food took a little over an hour to arrive, the burger was warm but ok, nothing special and the steak was sadly inedible. Unfortunately because it had taken so long to arrive we didn't have the time for a replacement and so I went without my meal. Something that did annoy me was that I was offered no refund and the staff were quite obviously going through the motions with no real interest in customer care. I did get a refund but only after having to ask the manager directly because no one else was authorised. I would have much rather not had to go through that process as it felt confrontational and in those circumstances I feel it should have been offered to me as standard procedure.

Overal I would say, appreciate the beautiful building but don't go in, the character is outside only and if all you want is a quick meal, Macdonalds burgers are better and only a fe hundreds yards up the road. Yes, I did just recommend Macdonalds over this place... understand now?

“over and under cocked”
Reviewed May 14, 2012

just drive past dont get drawn to the sizzle. Ordered chicken wings for a starter and they arived realy greasy, cold and tasted of cold fat. However that was nothing haveing to waight just under an hour in a not verry buisy pub for the main meal i then had a kingsize mixed grill the onions were black as they were under all the meat and the grilled tomato looking like a watery sludge in the corner of the plate. the sausages were a health hazzard on the one side, they hadnt seen any heat and a cruserfied on the other, the chicken breast tasted of charcole. i ordered the steak medium and it came serious overcooked. Others in the party of 4 of us ordered steak. 2 of them ordered it rare and they came well done my medium was seriously over done and as for the one that asked for it well done do i need to go there . the poor cow never deserved to be insinerated like that.
