In a town almost overwhelmed by cafes and takeaways of all sorts, the Olive Grove Bistro is a breath of fresh air! It is tucked away in a quiet courtyard just off the main, pedestrian area of Bridge Street (look for the British Heart Foundation shop).
The menu is Mediterranean in style and offers a variety of tasty dishes from tapas to good-sized main courses, including pizzas. A broad spread of dishes originate from Spain, Greece, and Italy; all are very reasonably-priced.
In addition to the cosy restaurant, there is a covered outside deck area – ideal for warm days. All of the facilities are clean and tidy.
Having taken breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Olive Grove on various occasions over the past few months, I can vouch for the high quality of food and service. The Olive Grove is run by friendly local folk with a keen interest in serving good food well.
A tasty Breakfast Bruschetta starts the day well; the Mixed Tapas are excellent; the evening meals (standard menu and special occasions) are well thought out and delivered. The wine list is fair and exceptionally well-priced – a truly “refreshing change”!
In summary: highly-recommended as a bistro – seek it out!
