Good food and genial hosts;Rooms are clean and comfortable. However, in our room the toilet brush had been used and there was still excrement on the brush, cleaner obviously not checking after previous occupants. The service in the bar was painfully slow, even though the hotel was nearly empty. It is alright having a bell but you shouldnt have to ring it 3 times before somebody comes to serve you and this happened not just to ourselves but other people who arrived at the bar.An example of this:My wife ordered a goats cheese and olive salad which we noticed after it was left had no olives at all,to my mind the waitress should have said beforehand there are no olives but do you still want it,maybe the chef didnt tell her? whatever way, after it was noticed we rang the bell to tell her but nobody came nor did anyone appear before we left the bar so we were unable to complain. You should not assume that everything is going to be alright and the proper way is to return and ask the customer after a few minutes if everything is alright, clearly this did not happen in this case. Its a nice place but in our opinion not worth the winter or summer rates they charge

Good location for exploring the North North-East, Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle, Berwick on Tweed etc.
Imposing building on the edge of the small town of Wooler.
Large clean rooms, large menu of excellent food and good range of local real ale.

Room Tip: See what deals they are offering.

Stayed here for 2nts following an invite to chilling ham castle, hotel rooms are quite small, and shower is in need of a little boost, but really welcoming. Staff were very friendly , full English breakfast was superb, bar served some fantastic food, overall excellent value for money,

Very cozy 400-year old inn serving a tasty Sunday luncheon. Relaxing in front of the fire, we ordered the usual special which included generous portions of meat (the lamb was especially tender and tasty), roast and mashed potatoes, beans, cabbage, turnip and Yorkshire pudding. Very good value.

The inn is easy to find, right on the main road.

Do not go here for the free WiFi; the connection is pathetically slow.

Just returned from a two night stay at Tankerville Arms (KGB deal) and cannot praise highly enough. Beautiful period building - with fantastic log fire in the Copper Lounge - but our room (No 12) had all the mod cons we required. Breakfast was plentiful and piping hot and served by a cheery waitress each day. All the staff were great - giving helpful advice when required with regards to visiting local area. Would recommend anyone who wanted a base for visiting Northumberland's many tourist attractions nearby. Liked the little touch of using 'Tankerville Teddy' as key fob!!

Room Tip: Apparently Rooms 3 or 8 are good choices.
