I stayed here on a Ramblers holiday recently and found it a warm, friendly and welcoming hotel. Ok the decor in the room was a bit "chintzy" but it was clean and a good size with a good modern en suite though the water pressure was alittle on the low side. The food was good though the portions were perhaps at times a little too large. All of the staff were a delight, keen to help and always helpful and patient. Unfortumately the weather was not warm enough for us to fully enjoy the beautiful gardens at the rear of the hotel. One of the most delighful and unusual features are the Tankerville teddies and you will just have to go and stay to understand what I mean.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. The staff are all friendly and we enjoyed a joke with the landlord. It is a little dated but I prefer that to boutique hotels. There was a downside which was the beds which were very soft, offered no support and appeared to be running downhill to the headboard.

We have enjoyed staying at Tankerville Arms Hotel, Wooler, for many years. It is a traditional 17th century coaching inn which is elegantly appointed with superb accommodation and friendly staff. This family owned hotel, with Ann Park the present owner, has a high standard of excellent food such as prime Northumbrian lamb and beef and delicious Craster kippers for breakfast, as well as vegetarian choices.

The surrounding area is very beautiful with historic houses and splendid castles Bamburgh, Alnwick, Chillingham, and many opportunities for touring, walking, golfing and horse-riding and interesting coastal villages. Dr. MGS and Mrs. PAS

We went to Wooler for a walking holiday, and as the Tankerville Arms was doing a special deal at £68 per night per room, chose to stay there. Plenty of convenient parking behind the hotel. All the staff were local, knew about the area and were very helpful and friendly. Our room was over the dining room, but even tho' the local hunt supporters were having a meal there, we weren't troubled by noise. The food wasn't goumet, but good local food, well cooked. Service was very efficient. The only thing against our paricular room was that the bath-room was on the small side
