Stayed here for a few days during a recent holiday in the North East and it's got to be one of the best bed and breakfast establishments I've stayed in ever. It's a beautiful old house, set in lovely gardens and overlooking equally beautiful scenery and the hosts could not ave been more welcoming, friendly or helpful. The breakfast was top quality and all locally sourced, the rooms were spacious and comfortable and it's conveniently close to Wooler. This was a fantastic find.

We had a fabulous weekend at Firwood House. Beth and Mike are both welcoming, friendly, helpful and their house and gardens are tranquil and picturesque. As keen birdwatchers, we were surprised by the numbers and variety of bird life in the garden and surrounding area, including a personal performance from Bluey the half-tame peacock right outside our bedroom window… RIGHT outside (his feathers were coming into the room at one point).

Firwood House is a great base for exploring Northumberland and our only regret is not staying longer.

Ideal location for exploring North Northumberland and close to Wooler, a thriving little market town.
Beth very knowledgeable on cycling routes. Only sad she couldn't join us!
Mike full of information on local history and where to try for food and walks.

Room Tip: Main extensive views from east side

A truly excellent B&B situated in lovely countryside a couple of miles south of Wooler on the edge of the Cheviots. Before we arrived the owners sent us detailed directions from Wooler and recommendations on local dining. Firwood has three excellent bedrooms. They are spotlessly clean and well fitted out. There is a lovely guest lounge. We were warmly welcomed and had tea & cake in the lounge. Firwood is in an elevated position and has lovely views across the countryside. The gardens are very attractive and are visited by a great variety of birds and red squirrels. The breakfasts were excellent with good choice. Mike & Beth were very friendly and offered numerous recommendations on things to do during our stay. There were numerous maps and guidebooks in the lounge including walking books. Wooler is a lovely little town with a number of restaurants. We tried the Milan Restaurant (Italian) behind the Black Bull in the High Street, and No.1 Hotel & Tapas Bar just opposite in the High Street. Both were very good and very popular. Booking is highly recommended. We had a really lovely stay at Firwood and will certainly be returning. Many thanks Mike & Beth.

Peace Tranquility Good breakfast. Need I say any more. A little gem within spitting distance of the national park. Mike and Beth make you feel right at home from the moment you arrive and don't forget Ron's Taxis so you can fully relax when dining out in the evening.
