“Great for golfing trips”
Reviewed April 30, 2012

We could not have had a better welcome and from then on every effort was made to please our golfing party of 10 - all very experienced in years of golfing trips. Hazel and Malcolm were great and Sharon was the star, attending to every detail. Would recommend this hotel to all as well as Northumberland Golf Tours who also did all that we could have asked for. It was a truly superb long weekend in the best of locations. Will remember those breakfasts as well as the superb view.

We travelled with a golfing party of 10. (Northumberland Golf Tours - excellent) and were made very welcome. The rooms were clean and all that we expected. (It is a 3 star). Our room did not have any curtains but the blinds kept out prying eyes, we did complain and they offered us a diiferent room but the size of ours was preferable. Large room with single and double bed.
Hazel opened the bar when ever we wanted it and plenty of room in the lounge. The breakfast was first class. All freshly cooked and hot.
Would we go back - yes. Comfortable and a great base for touring, or golfinfg

Room Tip: No tips as you should not spend time in the room!!

Top place top people top location

Stayed for the second time on a golfing trip. Loved it. Hazel Malcolm and Sharon were top drawer. Made us all feel really welcome. Really good breakfast nice clean rooms decent bar. Couldn't do enough for us

We're back in the region in October and will look no further than Beach House for our digs. If you're golfing up there look up Northumberland Golf Tours they'll look after you and if you're boozing in Seahouses don't go to the Ship where all the tourists go. The Black Swan is miles better!

Room Tip: Ask for room 20 or 22 for best view

we stayed at this hotel in February 2012 and it was one of the nicest short stay breaks we have had. The room was immaculate with a sea view of the Farne islands, and the breakfast was fantastic. The owners gave us a very warm welcome and we can highly recommend this hotel - Kevin & Karen

I stayed with a group of golfing friends. The location is ideal for playing golf in Northumbria. On reflection our stay, at times, was like being in the North East version of Fawlty Towers. The incidents were many, as you will read below. The place is understaffed and the poor girl, who served in the restaurant was expected to do too much. I guess she started work at or before 7 am and was seen there after 11 on one evening. As a consequence, although she tried her best, she was not effective. Above all, if you decide to stay, don't be fobbed off with one of the two micro-rooms. These are the smallest rooms I have EVER stayed in. There is a skylight but no blind to shut out the light. I complained but to no avail. When I refused to stay in the room, they found another much bigger room. Here are some of our incidents:
1. having asked for more potatoes, we were told that they had allocated 3 or 4 potatoes per person.........and those, who ordered cottage pie, were not supposed to have any! I think 4 of the 12 ordered cottage pie.
2. when the extra potatoes were delivered to the table, the serving bowl was slapped down with the comment "I hope these will enough now"
3. although, we were expected to decide what we wanted to eat for breakfast at the evening meal and for evening meal at breakfast, there was often confusion about, who ordered what. One evening, we suspect that the list of what we had individually chosen had been lost
4. I phoned about 2 weeks beforehand to ask about the WiFi and how readily available it was. I was told that the WiFi connection was not available "as the technician had set the password and we don't know what it is". On the day of arrival, I asked for an update on the WiFi and was given the same answer. Later we were told that it was available and, I formed the view that it had been available all along but the password was known by the reception person.
5. I had a couple of brief inane conversations with the wife of the owner at the bar in the early evening - for reasons I did not understand - she told me that one of my colleagues did the Times crossword every morning. He received the Daily Telegraph and he didn't do the crossword. On another occasion, a friend ordered a J2O cranberry. The owner's wife then turned to me and said "he has this drink every night". He replied that it was the first time he had ordered the drink at the Beach House

Room Tip: Check that you are not being allocated one of the two micro rooms

Strange set-up and attitude in this establishment which does not deserve ‘hotel’ status and whose slogan should be ‘everything is too much trouble and service with a snarl’.

We spent the August bank holiday weekend here as a family of six to show my nephew’s new American wife the region where we all grew up, which made our disappointment all the more upsetting. Although most of the staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming, the proprietor was cantankerous, unprofessional and rude, which we felt explained the underlying tension among the other staff.

Bar service - Although there were rarely any staff about, we had been told to ring the bell at reception for service. The first evening we came back to the hotel after our meal, rang for service and enjoyed a drink together in the bar. However, when we rang for bar service on the second evening, we were greeted by the proprietor who told us in a rude, curt manner that he’d closed the bar early because he wasn’t paying someone to man an empty bar, there was a pub down the road and not to disturb him again because he had to be up at 5 am to make our breakfast (served between 8-9.30 pm). I told him we wouldn’t be coming back if that was his attitude and he said, ‘You won’t be missed, pet’.

Breakfast - The first morning we came down to breakfast at different times, were all served straight away with a smile and brought two pots of coffee. The second morning we were served by a different girl who was obviously overworked and very stressed. When asked if four of us could order breakfast, she said we had to wait for all the family to arrive as it was ‘too much work’ to serve us separately. It was half an hour before the others arrived and we were served, having not even been given a drink, then two of the orders were wrong and there was not enough coffee. We felt uncomfortable asking for anything. When we asked if they served baked beans, we were told flatly ‘No’, without the expected ‘sorry’ or anything else. When we pointed out that another guest had baked beans on his plate, we were told that he’d brought them with him???? The fruit salad on the menu was also missing on the second morning.

Rooms - Although the rooms were clean and comfortable, one had a musty smell and all the walls were paper thin. My nephew and his wife were kept awake until the early hours on the first night with raucous laughter coming from the next room, and hardly slept at all the next night by as they could hear snoring from the next room as loudly as if it were in their room. They felt too tired and washed out to enjoy the last day.

Security - We had been asked to leave our room keys, which had the room numbers clearly marked on them, on the desk at reception. As this was unmanned, the front door unlocked and the proprietor in bed by 10 pm, there was a security risk until the door locked automatically at around 2 am.

Suitable for single, deaf teetotallers with no appetite or sense of smell.

we stayed at this hotel for three nights, it was spotlessly clean, the food was great and the staff very accomadating, we had a very comfortable four poster bed and new flat screen tv.
The dining room looks out to the Farne islands accross the sea, there is a very comfortable lounge and big bar, its in a fantastic position, I would recomend this hotel to anyone who wishes to stay in Seahouses or to visit the Farne Islands, the beach is also fantastic, miles of golden sands
