5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2012

16 of us stayed in this hotel overnight, some of us had stayed before but once again we were
amazed by the warm and friendly reception we were given by the staff, nothing was to much trouble, they stored our bikes and made sure we were straight to our rooms to rest after a long and very wet cycle ride. The food in the restaurant was excellent and was served by very helpful
and patient staff.
Rooms in this hotel are comfortable, clean and cosy and the views are also stunning, what more can you ask or need!

We stayed at this Inn last night and have just read many reviews (dating back many years) which are so relevent today: appauling management and failure of staff to take ownership of any problems. This Inn relies on passing trade and does not therefore have the motivation, desire or care to improve the services they provide or staff attitudes.

We strongly concur with other reviews that the breakfast was a joke. We arrived in the breakfast room at 8.45am (breakfast finished at 9am) - we had to wait for 15 minutes for a clean plate (after spending 10 mintures looking for a member of staff to inform them of the plate situation). Plates eventually came but there was very little hot food available, The 'chef' did bring a few freshly cooked eggs and when I asked when the other items (potato slices, scrambled egg, mushrooms, tomato) was comingI was told 'that nothing else was coming. There was some bacon and sausages in the broiler tins (remaining sausage had massive hair on it) and the bacon had been heated so much, it was like chewing leather. The toasters still took ages to toast the stale bread available. All these problems have been mentioned many times in reviews - some have even been answered by the management but absolutely NOTHING has been done to improve the customer experience.
The room itself was a decent size but the shower wash / shampoo containers attached to the wall were empty (which was only discovered while in the shower. The toilet was also unclean and there was NO water pressure from the shower.
All these issues were reported to the Assistant manager who, quite frankly, didn't give a toss. All she was interested in telling us was that she had spoken to the house cleaner and chef who told a different story to us, ie, we were liars! Clearly from reading all the negative comments on here, there are lots of liars out there!!!!!!!!!!! We are disgusted at having to pay £90 for the privIlege of staying in the Fawlty Towers of SeaHouses. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

We welcome feedback and take complaints very seriously and always act upon these.

With regard to your breakfast – which we provide free of charge to guests - you came down to breakfast at 9.15 – after service is finished, however there were sufficient supplies and plates on the breakfast buffet. At your request, our chef cooked you fresh eggs, which we did as a gesture of good will – we do all we can to look after our guests. CCTV footage confirmed the timing and plentiful supplies.

Our lovely assistant manager and head housekeeper checked your rooms, regarding cleanliness and soap and both were found to be in order, therefore we were unable to refund your booking.

We do hope you return to The Bamburgh Castle Inn and look forward to welcoming you.

We have stayed here 4 times now and it just gets better! The Staff are friendly and give excellent service and not just when its quiet - its a popular place to eat so its buzzing most of the time and the staff are always on the go. We had to change our booking at short notice but still got a room - this time the room was compact and bijoux but did the job - spotless and warm and we even got wifi through the old walls! The breakfast is the best tasty breaky in our experience of hotel breakfasts and they serve GOOD coffee which is also high on the tick list. The Evening meals were good man-sized portions, tasty and reasonably priced and as we have just had 3 lovely sunny days the views whilst dining were even more fabulous!
Thanks to you all - We will be back!

Came here for lunch whilst on holiday in the area. Had a great meal with wonderful views of the harbour, castle and islands. Excellent service and food. Enquired about their special break Winter 2012 and was told which rooms have balconies. Will definitely come back to stay.
Whilst here go and visit Swallow Fish(round the corner and down the road) for a fantastic range of freshly caught fish.

Room Tip: Ask for the ones with a balcony over looking the sea.

A great welcome, all the staff were really friendly. We only stopped for sandwiches at lunchtime. Lounge area was spotless and it was great to see the staff decking up for the Jubileee. We decided on sandwiches and my 10 yr old daughter went for her test of a truly great place - the hot chocolate. It arrived with fresh cream and marshmallows and my daughter described it as amazing!! I had the crayfish tail, my husband had the crab and my daughter the tuna. Each sandwich came aching with filling, (how do you make it pay?) with a side of crisps and loads of fresh salad, great value, and very tasty. Was so impressed with the service we came back on and sat in the beer garden on Sunday for a cheeky livener after a walk around Lindasfarne. Would highly recommend The Castle Inn and hope to return.

Stayed for three nights in a lovely attic type room with stunning sea views.Everything was spotless. We love Seahouses and wished we had used this hotel on previous visits. The staff were all polite and friendly and the breakfast timing works really well, like us ,most folk were up early ready for breakfast.

Stayed for three nights with friends, sea-view room, spacious( and spotless),with comfy bed. Good choice at breakfast including local produce ,didn`t have lunch but ate in the restaurant each night. Both my husband and I enjoyed every thing we had, the steak and ale pie being a real hit ,he doesn`t like a lot of pastry but the pie was packed with meat and the pastry the lightest I have tasted in a long time. The staff were helpful and friendly without being pushy, altogether a pleasant break and we will certainly return.
