A lovely place to stay, it really is a home from home. Great location. Seahouses is very lively, lots of places to visit. The walk from Seahouses to Bamburgh Castle/ Bamburgh is very invigorating. Loads of great places to eat. However if you didn't want to eat out there is everything you need in the kitchen at Kittiwake to prepare a lovely meal. It was our second stay there and it won't be the last. Will recommend it 100%.
We enjoyed our stay in Kittiwake, the cottage was cozy and clean and very much like presented here on this website.
The only issues we had was the wifi which was slow and not always available, and the parking; which was a bit sketchy (as announced in the cottage's description), we were lucky our rental car was small.
Lovely area, we walked on the beach to Bamburgh castle. Hope to be back one day!
Found Kittiwake in a convenient location for everything. We walked, drove and caught local buses and sailed to the Farne Islands. Good golf courses close by.As self caterers, we had everything at our disposal in the kitchen, used the local fishmonger and butcher. The nearby Co op was excellent. All communications were met with quick and thoughtful responses from Karen..too short a stay for us. Plenty of local info left in a folder. Would highly recommend as a clean, convenient base.
kittiwake is a comfortable, clean, well equipped cottage in a here at location, just a short stroll to the sea front, shops, pubs, restaurants an boats. You can see the sea from the front street. Walk left and you g to the fish smoke house ( dad got skippers and crab claws from there). Turn right and it takes y to the main high street leading down to the sea front.
We likes the papacy that e could park up and walk, could return to a spacious and comfy home which suited all our needs ( age ranges from 33- 87).Karen checked I with us during our stay which we also appreciated.
Had a fab time in a lovely seaside location close to beaches, walks and historical sites. A short drive to Lindisfarne. Did a boat trip to the Farne islands and visited Bamburgh and Alwnick.
Thank you Karen for letting us stay in yr lovely seaside home.
Keen to return a deplore the area from this base!
Our first stay in Seahouses great venue for boat trips to Farne islands, good eateries within the village .Good central location for touring Northumberland. Our cottage Kittiwake has great everything you would need including spacious kitchen fully equipped with everything you might use .Small but cosy lounge free view tv and DVD player lost of dvds in cabinet plus a shelf of books to read and cupboard full of children's games.Kingsize bed to front plus twin beds to the rear.House and bathroom very clean and well looked after.
Kittiwake is a lovely cottage, and Seahouses is a great base for touring the Northumberland coast.
The cottage is cosy and well-equipped, a home from home. The wall heaters were so good we did not need to use the wood burning stove. It is situated in a quiet road. You can enjoy the morning sunshine on the bench in the front garden.
There are several good places to eat within walking distance of the cottage and it is only a short walk to the harbour. This means you can leave your car at the cottage if you plan to take a boat to the Farne Islands. We did this twice and found it an amazing experience. May is a great time to see the nesting seabirds close up, and to catch puffins in their burrows. There is lots to see in the area-Alnwick, the NT house and gardens at Cragside, Howick House gardens, Bamburgh Castle, Craster. Although the National Trust have closed the Castle on Holy Island for restoration this year, it is still an interesting place to visit (check the tide times given that the causeway floods very quickly).
We enjoyed our time on the Northumberland coast and would definitely stay at Kittiwake cottage if up this way again.
I just want to say we've had a fantastic stay at Kittiwake. It is very close to the beach and shops and has all the facilities you could want in a property. Felt very at home. If we come to Seahouses again we will certainly be stopping here again. Thank you.
