“The staff were friendly, the food was awful.”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

We came here on a Thursday night and ended up eating here by default - we'd tried 3 other places and all were full or not doing food that night. This place had plenty of empty tables - and this set alarm bells ringing. However, we had no choice so went ahead.
We ordered olives and potato skins for starters. The potato skins were the highlight of the whole meal, crisp and hot. The olives were terrible - how can you get such bad olives? They were hard and floating in far too much oil, and the bread was flaccid, half-baked stuff.
On to the mains. I had linguine with smoked salmon, which was cooked OK and the (very small amount of) salmon was nice, but the whole thing tasted of cheap oil and not much else. My husband's seafood fricassee from the specials board sounded so promising, but turned out to be a soggy mess.
Worst of all was the kids' order (not from the kids menu, but again from the specials board): thai battered prawns with chilli dip and chips. I can't be certain, but if these had not come out of the freezer I would be amazed. How on earth does frozen food get onto the specials menu? Surely that is missing the point. Awful. We won't return.

Sorry to read your review - we pride ourselves on offering good, home cooked food that's popular with locals and visitors alike. Our food impressed a national reporter so much that we were featured in a leading Sunday national paper yesterday. All we can say is that we do hope you return and enjoy a meal with us.

“Fabulous fish and chips”
Reviewed October 31, 2013 via mobile

All three of us had Fish and Chips for lunch, and it was delicious. The fish was very fresh and tasty with a lovely, thin crispy batter. It was made even nicer in that we could take our dog in. To sum it up: great lunchtime pub fayre and value for money.

“A Very Welcome Surprise”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

We weren't expecting much from this restaurant but I can safely say that the view are the best of any restaurant in the world, out to sea and over the harbour. A lovely restaurant too, there menu was large with something for everyone, and surprisingly all freshly cook to and it was divine. You must come here.

“Great Food, lovely setting!”
Reviewed October 25, 2013 via mobile

One of the worst things about going away and taking your dog is the lack of information as to where you can take them. So this place was a real find! It has amazing views of the sea and the staff are so welcoming. Sensibly they serve 'light bites' or lunches to 5pm which fits in great with the holiday lifestyle . The food is excellent, great plough mans and jacket spuds and a very good bar !
Lovely enviro emit, would consider staying there sometime.

Thanks for the review and nice comments. We certainly do welcome dogs and have a pet friendly area where you can dine with your dog - it's awful having to leave them where you are staying or in the car if you are up on your hols. Great comments about the food too - please do come and stay - we have special dog friendly rooms on the ground floor with easy access.
