The Sunday lunch was cooked to perfection and service here was absolutely perfect.. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful..

Food, drinks and friendly atmosphere are the perfect way to spend an afternoon ... Couldn't be more chilled and relaxed

Having previously been in the Black Swan on numerous occasions over the last three years the wife and I were disappointed to find that the Swan had stopped doing meals which I could only describe as wonderful apparently the chef has moved to Australia but I can't understand why Gill the landlord hasn't found a replacement on first impressions of the outside the Swan looks at it's best tired and I suppose it is the same inside but don't let that put you off the friendly reception you are given not only by the staff but also the local customers is second to none also the main reason why you go in a pub is it's quality of beers and being a beer drinker this place serves a very good pint we have been in and made welcome at all different times and days of the week we first started going to the Swan three years ago while on a weeks holiday in Seahouses and have been back each year ever since from the very first time we went in Gill remembered us on the first two years we had our little dog with us but sadly lost her last year this establishment welcomes dogs if kept on a lead but won't allow children in the public bar area when the restaurant area was open children were allowed but as mentioned it is now sadly closed if anyone is going to the Seahouses area be sure to check out the BLACK SWAN for a friendly chat and a damn good pint.

thanks for this review it is always nice to have customers return to the black swan. in this case i think most of the review was based on a conversation i had with this customer OUTSIDE the pub infact 50 yards away from the front door. if the reviewer had looked inside the pub he would have seen that the bar has just been refurbished and it looks very good ( not in the least tired).the tired exterior is about to get a refurb as well. when the black swan restaurant was open we prided ourselves on good quality home cooked food from a FAMILY run restaurant,my wife as i have explained in previous review responses has retired and my son the chef is now in australia so if we "got someone else in" it would no longer be fully in our control and this did not appeal to us hence with a heavy heart and much regret we closed the restaurant. as for children yes it is true they are not allowed in the public bar but they are more than welcome in the lounge, as are dogs if kept on a lead and they do not cause mess or interfere with human enjoyment
cheers gill chambers still the landlord

Having been to Seahouses many times and visited this pub before we decided to walk up the bank and have a drink. On entering we ordered 2 glasses of wine , it was very obvious quite soon there was this disgusting smell, hence we didn`t linger over our drinks. We were the only `visitors` in the bar but evidently several locals sitting on bar stools. As we drank our wine, trying not to be too put off by the stench, the language from the locals was at best described as `colourful`. This was the final straw and we will never set foot in this pub again. Dreadful, I can only think it must have changed hands from our previous visits. One to avoid !!

who on earth do you think you are. you come to a fishing village with a working harbour with proper fishermen and proper people who work in the fish prep industry and you complain about "the stench" this stench as you call it is the smell of people who have just finished a hard days work . if they choose to come into my pub (or should I say their pub) and they smell of work FINE. if you dont like it stay away or maybe visit a perfume factory I am sure that would be in keeping with the high standards you must be used to. and yes Iam the same landlord who has had the pub for 14 years, and I think these colourfull people are great people. if you ever decide to come back to the black swan please make yourself known and Iwill introduce you to some local people you might find them quite interesting.

thank you for reviewing the black swan the bit i can not comprehend about your scoring is how you can review our food, value for money and service if we dont even have a restaurant.why not try again but use a bit of common sense this time

Know matter how many times we come to Seahouses, you can always be sure of a smile or three, the host has got to be one of the best in the area, go on get your self round, especially on a Sunday for your cheese and crackers before you partake in having Lunch......unfortunately they have stopped doing that amazing Sunday roast here now, maybe they should start again or even invent their own Black Swan Sunday Roast flavoured crisps,...... just a thought
I know what I will be doing this Sunday
Cheers
Barry
