We visited on Thursday this week and took Charlie the dog.....we were made very welcome by the landlord, locals and other visitors...the atmosphere was warm and friendly..we have just come back from having a meal there and it was superb...the portions were huge and hot and fresh ...forget the tourist fish and chip take aways...this was far far better..the best value meal all week..... This will be top of our list when we return and would recommend it to anyone....a big thumbs up to the landlord

visited the black swan 02/06/2013. pre booked but was not necessary as plenty of seating available. starter of chicken and chirotzo soup was out of this world main sunday lunch either beef , lamb or pork . plenty meat on plate 5 veg . roast and mash potatoes 2 Yorkshire puds what a dinner. veggi option available looked ok on the next table. sweets looked out of this world but too stuffed to attempt one. ( black swan please note if you had something to put it in I would have purchased a sweet ) this is home cooking at its best. will definitely go back when in area.
I looked at trip advisor and what I read was true about the black swan

Visited The Black Swan on saturday, was greeted with a warm welcome by both the staff and the locals. We had a quick drink in the bar while our table was being prepared. Whilst looking at the menu and deciding if we were having starters someone else meal came out and we noticed the portion sizes. We decided against a starter although the choices looked lovely I had the gammon and hubby had the fillet steak. Hubby has eaten all over the country and said this was the best steak he had ever had, the homemade chips were really good and the whole meal was substantule . We were going to have pudding but were both full up. Well worth popping in for a meal or just a drink unlike some pubs we were made to feel like family. Will definatly being visiting again soon

We visited the Black Swan for 2 evening meals during our week's holiday in Seahouses. Unfortunately they only serve evening meals from Wednesday to Saturday with just lunches on a Sunday and they don't take bookings unless there are 6 or more of you so you do have to get there early (about 6.30pm) The food is absolutely delicious, homecooked and very plentiful. If the weather is cold the soups are a must. The Anglers Salad is so beautifully presented with a huge variety of ingredients and my husband's fillet steak was so tender that it could almost have been eaten with a spoon! The prices are extremely reasonable also and the landlord is a charming man. This place really cannot be beaten. Next time we go to Seahouses it will definitely be our first choice.

My husband, Daughter and I visited on Thursday 30 May and we were made very welcome,it was lovely to see a smallish menu..that way you know everything is fresh... we chose the steaks with red wine sauce it was delicious, my daughters meal was lovely too crispy breaded chicken fillets.. sublime homemade chips and tempura onion rings..I can't believe we have never discovered this before ...well worth a visit or two! we'll certainly be back next year.
