“Well worth a stay”

I have been working in the area for several months and have stayed here.
The staff are welcoming and the accommodation is excellent. I actually looked forward to staying away from home. The is ample parking which is helpful and a peaceful nights sleep after a hard day at work.

This is a lovely change from a standard hotel room but providing the same modern comforts plus some. We stayed in room 11 in the old prison quarter, as it was formally a cell you can appreciate it wasn't over spacious but the area has been adapted to make the best use of it. The apartment was well equipped, good quality towels and a great continental selection had been freshly prepared for our breakfast and placed in the fridge. The room was very clean and also nice and warm. There was little ventilation and natural light but again you have to remember this was once a prison cell! We really enjoyed the quirkiness of the room. If you like something a little different give it a try.

My husband and I have just returned home after 3 nights in Morpeth apartments which i found through latebookings.com and so glad I did. Lovely place nice and warm with comfy king size bed. We arrived early but
Pam gave us the key so we
could come back when we were ready as the room was being cleaned. She was lovely and when i toldher next morning i had bought more milk she said we shouldhave asked for more and bought us a 4pt bottle
Shower room sink rather tiny but that's only criticism. Would definitely return. Marabini's
Is excellent

I took the wife on a surprise getaway for the night and after reading TripAdvisor reviews booked the last room available.

The building is an old county court and gaol, although it was never exactly Belmarsh. From the front it looks like a castle keep and there are several private apartments as well as the three "hotel" rooms. Each room is cleverly designed in two floors, with a living area, kitchenette and bathroom on the ground floor and a bedroom upstairs. The rooms are cosy, but there's plenty of space for a couple and you get a small suite for the price of a B&B or a Premiere Inn. We got to sit and enjoy a bottle of wine on the sofa downstairs before heading up for the night - it just isn't the same perched on the end of a bed in a 'normal' hotel.

In terms of location, it was ideal. We'd never been to Morpeth before, but it is a lovely spot. We had a wander over the bridge and were right in the centre of town. We enjoyed a fantastic meal at Marabini's, but could easily have stopped at any one of a dozen restaurants that all looked, sounded and smelled great.

As others have said, the breakfast is left in your fridge. We had 3 types of cereal, bread, brioche, croissants, jam, marmalade, yogurt, melon, blueberries, strawberries and two eggs as well as a hob, toaster and microwave - certainly more than we could get through ourselves.

We arrived in the evening and the passcode for the door and a mobile phone number were left in a personalised letter which made us feel very welcome. It was a shame we didn't get to meet the proprietor as by all accounts she is lovely, but we knew we could ring if we had any issues.

The price was great, it worked out cheaper than a B&B I had been looking at and was much more special.

Advice?

Don't rely on Google Streetview, which is a bit out of date. You have to turn it at the police station, which is not the perfect welcome - but there isn't much that can be done about that.

We were a bit worried about parking, but just lift one of the bollards up as they're not locked (the letter said this, but we had tried to park before going in and a resident let us know what to do).

Overall, the best night away we've had in ages.

Arrived late afternoon to find easy to follow arrival Info, from walking the ar h tunnel to entering room 9 we became absorbed by the unique feel of The Courts. High level of cleanliness, great bathroom and fresh continental breakfast arranged in the fridge and great room conversion (mezzanine style) was as far away as you can get from Travel Lodge accommodation. If improvements are to be made I would recommend a larger tv? We will be returning in the future for sure and know each room will have its own touch of unique style to enjoy.

We stayed here on a mid-week break and would happily return. Our 'superior accommodation' was perfect for the two of us, with a small, comfy sitting room, complete with dining table and two chairs, a kitchen that contained a fridge, an oven with two hot plates and a micro-wave. The bathroom was large with an excellent walk-in shower and lots of hot water. The bedroom was actually a mezzanine, but that wasn't a problem. The bed was especially comfortable. Although located on a busy road, we weren't troubled by traffic noise at all. There was a park within walking distance, as too were the restaurants, shops, banks, etc of Morpeth. The accommodation was serviced every day - bed made, etc - and an excellent continental breakfast left in the fridge. The breakfast consisted of eggs (to be cooked), a choice of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, fruit juice and at least three types of bread - plus tea, coffee and milk.
