We come to Northumberland every winter and yesterday paid our first visit to the lovely town of Morpeth.
We set out early so decided to find somewhere for breakfast. We count ourselves very lucky to have stumbled on the Old Bakehouse.
There is a large range of tempting dishes on offer. We both chose the full English breakfast. I will list the ingredients: 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, fried bread, black pudding, tomatoes and beans served with 2 rounds of toast, marmalade and a huge pot of tea!! The price? £5.25 each!! The service was very friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. The quality of the ingredients was first class - sausage and bacon are very obviously from a very good local butcher.
We will make the trip to Morpeth next year just to eat at the Old Bakehouse again.
