We stayed for one night on our return journey south........the previous comments/reviews about staff friendliness, atmosphere and food quality ring true with us.......dinner was very good and the breakfast is indeed 'hearty' and of good quality............the review in February from jeffreyseries2a regarding the accommodation also rings true and mirrors our experience......the smell is invasive and we thought the bedding was decidedly average.........the TV remote was no where to be seen and the TV is located high on a wall...........upon enquiring of the lady who had shown us to our room she said, oh I forgot to say the TV did not have a remote as it was not working and then added that 300 years ago TVs didn't have remotes!!! and that the controls were on top of the TV. A precarious perching act balancing on an armchair followed to turn on/off change channels etc. I brought this to the attention of the lady who checked me out the next morning and she said she would mention it to 'management' ................Not up to the standards of £90 a night establishment!!!! which is a shame as the food rates much more highly........so eat but do not stay.

We ate at the Dyke Neuk several times while staying at a holiday cottage in nearby Mitford (about 10 minutes' drive). On our first visit the bar was full of locals and very busy. The more formal restaurant is not open every evening, so it's advisable to check if you prefer that. We did have to wait a while for our food order the first time we went, but it was worth the wait. The food was enjoyable, but you do need a large appetite! Friendly staff, good atmosphere, and would recommend both eating in the bar and in the restaurant.

I've been for a meals here quite a few times lately, and the food is always great. There is no scrimping on portion size and the prices are reasonable. The staff are always very accommodating which makes for a very friendly atmosphere.

Went here with my girlfriend. Upon arrival, we walked through the door and it literally felt like a western. It all went quiet and everyone looked at us. After a few seconds it returned back to it's normal vibrant self. But it felt a bit uncomfortable.

Apart from that, the food was a little above average. The drinks, as you'd expect. And the staff were very friendly.

Just returned from a nice couple of days break and found the place very friendly and a smashing bar with a great fire and atmosphere. We paid £90 per night for a couple and a 5 year old which is about average however we don't think the facilities were up to scratch. I take nothing away from Shiela, Steve and George who are part of the family that run it because they were very friendly however; 1) The staircase to the rooms was straight off the bar and smelled of damp as well as looking in need of a lick of paint years ago. The room itself was reasonable with a nice full single for the little one however there was no fan in the bathroom and when the maid had been in our dirty cups were still left there (apparently they don't replenish the cups although Shiela did get us some when asked). All these problems paled into insignificance compared with the sulphuric- methane type drain smell which appeared in the bar and our room once the kitchen had closed every night. When I say it was unpleasant, I mean ...very unpleasant. I was told by the locals at the bar that it always happened every night! I almost feel like a traitor because the people are lovely and the breakfasts....to die for .......but come on Steve I would not recommend your wonderfully friendly Inn to anyone until you sort the staircase out and your room maids as well as that terrible smell. You still took the full money though! Great place , needs some work (or a peg!)

Room Tip: All rooms have the benefit of the noise from the bar downstairs, don't take kids if you want the...

We stayed here for 3 nights last week. The room was very spacious & comfortable with a really good shower. The pub seemed to be very popular with locals - which we like. The breakfasts were amazing - by the 3rd morning we had persuaded the lovely Sheila to serve more normal portions or 'sparrow's breakfasts' in her words ! All the staff that we met were very friendly & helpful. We only had supper here once - it was very good. The bar is also dog friendly & I think dogs are allowed in 1 bedroom. We will definitely return.

We have just returned from a weekend stay at the Dyke Neuk. Both the food and the room were excellent. We had a family room which ideal as we have a toddler and a baby. We were able to enjoy a night in the pub and restaurant with kids asleep upstairs. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. We got chatting to a few locals as well and they were friendly and welcoming. We wouldn't hesitate staying here again.
