We have been for a wedding and although the building itself was beautiful the food at the wedding was extremely dissapointing. The vegetables was a combination of over cooked and undercooked, the meat was cold and fatty. The starter was ok but lukewarm, the dessert was classed as a brownie but it was more like a refrigerator cake. The wine was ok. The room was ok but the carpet stained. It had a sloping roof so when my partner got out of bed he kept hitting his head. We were only there one night otherwise I would have asked to be moved. The staff were professional but not overly friendly. We had not booked breakfast but after eating the meal we were pleased as otherwise to spend £17.50 after that meal we probably would have cancelled as it probably would not have been worth it.
Also the hotel automatically add £1 onto the bill for a charity donation that the chain 'supports'. This is not advertised or spoken about, however I noticed it and queried the rate and that is when they told me. There is leaflet attached to the card that you sign but they just handed the card with the leaflet attached and said to sign here, here and here. I know its only a £1 but its the fact that they do it without a verbal request and its automatically done for you and unless you read it and verbally opt out, no doubt in a reception it makes you slightly uncomfortable that you are seen as not been very charitable. I am chartiable and I choose my charities and donate on my own terms not because a hotel chain I am staying at for a wedding decides thats who I should donate to.

I had a look at the cost of the weddings there and no way on this earth was what we saw and experienced worth half of that!

Room Tip: request one without a sloping roof.

Overnight stay for a hen night spa package. Party of 5. Excellent room, comfortable and clean. Spa was good with fabulous treatments very good value for money. Was spoilt by restaurant when they found out it was a hen night. Staff very friendly and helpful. A lovely break and going back for a pamper before the wedding. Definately reccomend!!

This was our third visit. It was booked on a MacDonalds Autumn Break offer. We were given a fabulous afternoon tea on the house when we arrived - lashings of delicious sanwiches and pastries and a large pot of tea. We signed a docket for £36.00 but it cost us nothing on the offer.

Our room was large and comfortable and the food extremely good. We were disappointed that the television kept switching itself off about every half-hour. Perhaps it was in sleep mode but we were not technically enough skilled to work it out and it didn't really matter all that much. Our second dinner was in the Linden Hall Pub and while the food was excellent, we found walking in the rain from the main hotel (we could not find an umbrella) outside unacceptable, especially as one of us has poor sight in the dark and we are both a bit disabled. The lighting to the Pub leaves a lot to be desired.

Having said this we fould the staff very pleasant and very helpful and the general ambience of the establishment was positive and welcoming. We would go there again without any hesitation.

Room Tip: Look out on the internet for special offers.

This hotel is set in lovely grounds and has a golf course. The thing that attracted us was the dinner bed & breakfast package and the swimming pool. The pool was very nice. The dinner was excellent on the 1st night and ‘ok’ on the 2nd night. We were disappointed in the breakfast service – e.g. we asked for something and then the staff forgot it. We weren't impressed with the hot food though cold selection was very good. As we had a dinner package and so when we got there we were surprised when reception told us ….we may not be able to book you in as the restaurant is very busy. As it was we persevered and we got a table. Our room was well appointed by very small – quite surprising in such a large country house.
PS: The art on the walls left a lot to be desire – faded photo prints and poor quality oils.

Room Tip: As for a large room

Myself and a friend attended here for a 'spa day' in October entitled winter Warner spa day. This was the most disappointing spa I have ever been to, on entering the spa we both knew it was not what we had expected. We had to wait almost 15 minutes for a member of staff to appear at the spa reception and when someone eventually did appear this was one of the therapist who told us we would have to wait as she was busy! We had already waited more than 10 minutes. When someone did eventually come to see us we were given towels and a robe (no spa slippers) which we had not been informed that we would not be getting therefore we had no footwear, our robe and towels given were also not really what we desired to be wearing on a "luxury spa day" they were grubby and well worn in.
We were shown around the pool area by a member of staff who ventured in with his shoes on. On entering the changing rooms I was actually shocked they were so bad, they were dirty there was a wasp (in October) flying around, the toilet was filthy.
The spa consisted on a swimming pool a mini jacuizi and a sauna and steam room. The steam room smelt awful and was so put dated and not really fit for use, the sauna was equally as bad and it was lucky there weren't many guests as both of these fitted no more than 4 people at a time. There were people walking around the spa area who seemed to work there however who did not have uniforms on and we were unsure whether these were staff or guests however I felt this made us uncomfortable and uneasy.
We received our treatments from the therapist who had been abrupt to us on entering the spa however although the treatment was ok I would not say it is the best I have.
Lunch was in the linden tree pub which you have to walk across a car park to get to therefore have to get changed into your clothes (this is a pub which is not ajoined to the hotel or spa therefore there are other members of the public there) and are instructed to do so. Lunch was ok but again nothing special. We did have to option of returning to the spa after lunch however we didn't really want to after our morning experience and even if we had I wouldn't really have wanted to get changed into a wet swimming costume again.
This spa is slightly cheaper than many others in the north east however it is now very apparent why, it just does not come close to the likes of rockliffe hall. If you are wanting a day of luxury and relaxation I wouldn't recommend here at all. We did not stay over therefore can not comment on the bedrooms however we did walk through the hotel to get to the spa and were just as unimpressed with the smell and tired decor in these areas.

Linden Hall was more than I could have hoped for on a long weekend break. The hotel itself is as charming as the staff. Our fourposter room was comfortable and very well appointed. We recieved a bottle of champagne on ice and a fruit platter to greet us. The spa was everything I could have hoped for with a small pool, hottub and wonderful treatment rooms. The dinner bed and breakfast rate was excellent value and the quality and service of our stay was comparable with many of the more pricier hotels. Will we be back? When can we book please...?

Room Tip: Having been in one of the more expensive "premier rooms" we saw it wasnt as nice as our fo...

We attended a craft day and took our 89year old mother in law who is in a wheelchair. Half of the stalls where upstairs with no disbled access whatsoever. This was very dissapointing as we did not want to leave her on her own at the bottom of the stairs whilst we looked upstairs .
We talked to a member of the LindenHall staff who seemed to want to flog us a discounted meal at the pub instead of deal with our issue.
Talked to the organiser who apologised but seemed to think that as the function was for charity it was OK to discriminate against the disabled, got the money back for the entrance for the mother in law only but it spoiled the day for us all. Please Linden Hall do not let this happen again.
