With all the previous reviews on trip advisor about Beacon Hill Farm we wondered if it would really live up to the great review - and i can honestly say it did. The cottages really had everything you can think of and with a family of 5 it made the holiday experience so much more easier. A great warm welcome from Alun and a tour around the site on his golf car made the start of the holiday a success with the children within the first hour! The facilities on site are wonderful, the children spent so much time in the pool they have come back with webbed feet and certainly better swimmers. The spa facilities made it even more pleasurable for the adults. There was so much to entertain the children on site that they didn't want to go any where else, we did, but the children looked forward to coming back to the indoor play areas. We had some great weather, but no matter if the weather would of been poor there was enough to do on site. Another added bonus is how safe and secure the site is - the children were happy having a little freedom and being able to go around the site if they wanted on their own. The staff were really friendly, especially the gentleman who managed the site. Great holiday and would definitely recommend it

Fantastic stay at Beaconhill Farm. South Granary was well equipped, friendly staff and other guests. Our 2 wee boys loved the park (with tractors), play area, woods and pool. Perfect location with lots of things to do in the area - Alnwick castle, Cragside, Lindisfarne and a very chilly trip to the beach. Will definitely return!

This is the best self catering holiday that you could get. A beautiful location and lots of things to do without going away from the grounds. We used the swimming pool daily and found it opening early in the morning a great start for a early rising grandson. My teenage daughter and her friend loved the fact that we let them wander around the grounds without watching their every move. The cottages are lovely. This place deserves to do well. Alun has thought of all the little extras that make a holiday special ie the wine and flowers on arrival. This was our second visit and will not be our last.

Our second stay at Beacon Hill this time in Curlew Cottage. Even more facilities were available to us this time of which our daughters made great use. We had a mums and daughters treat at the beauty spa and lots of family time in the swimming pool and play areas including the trampoline, football pitch and indoor games room. The grounds and farmland to which you have complete access were brilliant for evening walks, particularly Megs Lake - great for bird watching. Our cottage had a beautiful picture window offering breath taking views and was excellently equipped throughout with all mod-cons. Beacon Hill is a good location from which to travel to the many and varied activities and facilities on offer across Northumberland.

We've been coming to Beacon Hill every other year since 2008 and just love it at Quarry House. Huge kitchen and lounge, fantastic garden with views all the way to the sea and not overlooked at all. Alun's lovely little touches aren't missed - that's how you know you're in a 5 star cottage - eco-friendly washing up liquid/dishwasher tabs/washing powder all supplied. Local homemade cakes and wine left in the kitchen for your arrival. Fire in the lounge made up and ready to go - simply superb finishing touches.

As for the pool, games room and indoor playground - all loved and used endlessly by our two boys. We also love the space to run and play, no cars, freedom for the kids. Woods are great and we enjoyed a full English breakfast 'al fresco' on two mornings, cooking on the thoughtfully provided firepit/bbq area in the woods. Nothing like gathering your own firewood with a view of the sea to start the day.

Quite honestly, our boys begged us not to go out and stay on site as much as possible - which we did every other day. Highly recommend Belsay Castle for magical Quarry gardens and a castle the boys loved. Also a new restaurant recently opened in Amble - The Old Boat House' - in the old RNLI building right on the harbour with amazing views. Local seasonal produce, fantastically cooked. Sea bream, mussels, crab, lobster and brown shrimp amazing - great 'real' kids fish n chips. We even met the fisherman at the door dropping off his morning's catch that quickly gets put on the specials board for the day. Top it off with an Italian ice cream at nearby Spurellis - and stock up on the butcher's award winning pies in town for the next day's picnic. Foodie heaven.

We love Beacon Hill and it's testimony to Alun and his team's dedication to quality, that on the day we arrived all other arrivals were repeat bookings.

Lastly, a special mention about Meg's lake. Walkable for adults, or a short drive with little kids, it's a quiet and magical place. We fished for tadpoles and watched newly hatched goslings (egg shells on the grass!). Also noticed the bbq areas - much like our fire in the lounge - were made up and ready to light with firelighters and everything. Wow. Our only regret is we ran out of time to have an evening bbq down there. Next time...!
