“another great visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2013

We have visited the island many many times and never been disappointed by the warm welcome here. Lyle and Co are as relaxed as Keith was and made our stay by being very chatty when we made our orders but not intrusive as we enjoyed our meals and drinks. All staff very happy to help and we will look forward to next years visit.

Room Tip: quaint old rooms refreshed with welcoming decor but retaining character.

We stayed just the one night but had such a lovely welcome, good food, excellent beer, great views from the room, good time at the bar with locals and visitors, great walks next day - what more can you ask from a one night stay? Fantastic, would definitely stay again.

We'd driven from Berkshire, stayed overnight with my sister in Cheshire on the way up and back down, wondered if it would be worth it for all the expense and the long drive. It was so very much worth it. Thank you to all at the Crown & Anchor, it was a great little break that felt like a full holiday!

We found the Crown & Anchor to be a wonderful base for getting a feel for life on Holy Island once the tide has turned and the day-visitors are gone. The room was great, the staff were incredibly warm and friendly (despite being seriously busy during the day) and staying there added to our experience. Meeting some of the islanders in the evening was fascinating –– there's a side to Lindisfarne a lot of people never see, and it has some unexpected characters! Long before we checked out we decided we'd be back.

Once again, a big thank you to Kyle and his Staff for a warm welcome and delicious fresh seafood. Oysters and scallops are my choice, and my husband and children enjoyed their 'venison bangers and mash' and 'steak pie'. Great atmosphere. Thank you, and looking forward to returning as soon as possible.

Room Tip: We have stayed in the past and the rooms are very cosy and clean; a big bonus is that it's dog f...

There isn't much competition on the island, so 'overnighters' are a bit of a captive audience. I stayed for one night and was greeted on arrival by a large gentlemen who's attire of grease stained T shirt and ripped jeans didn't impress. Having said this the rooms were clean and comfortable enough. Having surveyed the dinning room with its cracked plastic seating and shabby decor, I ate elsewhere on the island. Contrary to other reviews I found the bar staff less than friendly. Noisy at night with patrons drinking and smoking outside the front of the pub, and I was woken twice by noisy late arriving guests.

stayed a few times, going back shortly (hopefully) granddad, grandma, grandson and two dogs, staff are fantastic, food amazing, island beautiful and we love everything about it! the new(ish) owners have given it all they've got and its worth it - Kyle is an Islander returned!. Even in November, Lindisfarne and the Crown and Anchor are sure to deliver the goods.

Room Tip: have family room and dog friendly room, extremely comfortable.

Can't comment on the rooms ( as we weren't staying there) nor the food (because we didn't eat there) but found this one of the friendliest and most comfortable places to go for a drink that we had been to in a long while. Although the wooded seats (they looked like old church pews but I'm not certain) didn't look like they would be particularly comfortable, they proved to be. A good welcome, a fabulous beer called Tyneside Blonde (courtesy of Hadrian and Border Brewery) and the world seemed very cosy. To top it all, the music (audible, but never remotely intrusive) was a selection of tracks by old north eastern musical stalwarts Lindisfarne (the band) which please this old hippie roccker and fitted the evening to a t. Great place for a drink and a melloing out.
