“Dinner in Heaven”

If you like slow food traditional silver service in a fantastic country house setting. Game, local meat and fish pepper a most enjoyable menu. You have to spend a couple of hours minimum and want to enjoy a meal this way, Start in the bar and enjoy the menu, select carefully and you will not be disapointed. We live relatively local but we are almost tempted to stay its that great experience

had a fantastic weekend stayed in the garden suit as a french shooting party was staying in the main house.
The service is second to none without doubt the best hotel we have ever stayed in the food was to die for.
Cant say a bad word about our stay cant wait to go back what a gem to find in a outstanding area.

Went a few weeks ago for a celabratory meal . Have been before and always enjoyed and so pleased we went again. The surroundings are elegant olde worlde. A beautiful house within its own acreage. Lovely to walk around. There is a bar that serves meals downstairs. Upstairs, however, is the finery! The restaurant is within polished dark woodwork showing off fabulous paintings of yon. Everything is plush and elegant.. the luxious part of Downtown Abbey !
Waiters are all dressed in appropriate attire and all is silver service. The meals are set prices and of gourmet quality. One of us had steak on a plateau of vegetables. the desserts were to die for. In all, a 3 course meal was in the region of £100 each but worth every penny. I strongly recommend this gem.

Room Tip: Easy to find, good directions.

This lovely hotel was exactly what we needed; a warm welcome from friendly, helpful staff, beautiful surroundings and peace and quiet. The main hotel building isn't for everyone because of the steps but for us its mellow gothic charm created an atmosphere of muted grandeur that was both special and comfortable. Our party took two rooms and both had an individual style with antique furniture and paintings, and this alongside the excellent food created a perfect three day break. We would definitely return.

Whilst touring Northumberland booked a three night stay in this hotel. On arrival were told that we were given a room on the top floor. No lifts just 70 odd steps up. Not really suitable for someone with heart and breathing problems. We made our way up to a rather tired, basic room with a nice bathroom. At dinner, (which I couldn't finish as I was not feeling too good after the exhausive back and forward to the room), whilst talking to helpful restaurant staff, learnt that several other guests were leaving that night. Asked to be relocated to lower floor the following night. In the morning this was refused. We left. Unhelpful, unsuitable, unsympathetic, unapologetic.

Room Tip: Eat here but don't stay

Had dinner here last week, Tillmouth park never seems to change the decor remaining the same for decades it seems but very clean and comfortable. Tables well spaced apart and the huge beach tree lit at night in the grounds. Service friendly and efficient. One member of front of house has been there over 30 years! Haven't been here for a few years after the food went downhill but the food on this occasion was modern, fresh and pretty good value. Gravalax with beetroot ice cream looked fantastic, the game terrine was delicious and all the mains were good, partridge roulade and pork tenderloin. Mains accompanied with seasonal vegetables. Only negatives the homemade bread was poor and could maybe do with some gentle music.

We went for a special dinner and it certainly was! Beautiful country house in amazing grounds, lovely inside and staff very attentive. The food was excellent, we were a party of 4 and we all struggled with what to have as all sounded so lovely! Very relaxing and our only regret was that we weren't staying overnight! We would certainly stay over next time. The staff had pride in their work and were very knowledgeable about the history of the house. Well done to all concerned.
