“A lovely and welcoming bed and breakfast”
Reviewed June 22, 2010

My husband and I had a lovely stay at Alannah House in early June. The owners were very welcoming and helpful, the room was immaculate and comfortable, and the garden beautiful. Alannah House was a great base for our explorations of Berwick and region, and we recommend it enthusiastically.

We made an unexpected stay in Berwick and this establishment was recommended by another hotelier who was fully booked. The owner couldn't have been friendlier .The room was huge and newly decorated . The breakfast was fantastic, with the owner accomodating our request for an earlier breakfast time. It was very good value for money.
We would defiinitely stay again and recommend it to others.

From the moment we arrived Lynn made us feel very welcome .We had booked a family room as we had our teenage daughter with us .The room itself was ideal with plenty of space and overlooking a gorgeous garden.Allanah House is a great location just off the main centre -we had travelled by train and it was a 10 minute walk from the station (plenty of taxis available if necessary). We  didnt need the car as we were only staying two nights but we didnt manage to do half the things we wanted to - Berwick is a much underrated location .Lynn provided a lot of good info on places to visit and good restaurants  /cafes - after breakfast you will not need too much for lunch

We stayed 2 nights at Alannah House and thought it was perfect for our needs. Our room and the breakfast room were each stocked beyond belief in order to meet each and every need (some you didn't even realize you needed!!). We appreciated the menus, maps and helpful local advice inside our room's welcome book. Our hostess was extremely helpful, friendly and yet not obtrusive. The parking permit was much appreciated as were the delicioius cooked-to-order breakfasts. Clean rooms, beautiful gardens and a delightful town..what more could you want!?

we stayed only one night as we were traveling, we were fortunate enough to be given a family room, which was excellant, we wanted to stay longer but was fully booked up due to a charity do at the weekend. the roomwas clean and very well equipped with everything the family would need, hairdryer, fridge, sererate room and bed, big plasma tele, 2 basins, second tele in other room, ironing board, teamaking stuff, bottle opener in the fridge for the beer, sewing set, etc, just very homely and super cosy, ( very comfy sofa as well ) parking was easy just outside, was given a voucher for resident only in the street but felt safe there, the breakfast was as little or as much as u want , juices, tea/ cofffee. toast, and menu choice, full english, eggs, kippers, etc, lovely hosts and the chap (cant remember your name sorry) even carried the wife's suitcase upstairs for me, would most definitly stay there again ! as for berwick cant say much as we were passing through.

We stayed here for one night and thoroughly enjoyed it. The B&B features a lovely garden and easy access to the Elizabethan walls, the railway station and the town center. The hosts were very friendly and made us feel welcome. They were also nice enough to book our room without an advance deposit as we were traveling from the US and they aren't equipped for credit cards. They also did not require a two night stay on a weekend as many others did.

The room was nicely furnished and extra big as we were put in the family room, which features two sleeping areas. There was no street noise overnight, despite a disco-ish looking pub just up the street.

Breakfast was hearty and delicious. I love a good English fry-up and this was top notch. There were plenty of other choices if bacon and sausage are not for you.

We really enjoyed our stay here and will return on a future trip as we didn't have time to visit Holy Island this go round.

  • Liked — The warm welcome and friendly hosts

We stayed at the alannah bed and breakfast for one night on saturday 29th september with our 2 boys aged 5 and 7, We had the family room which was big and very nice with an adjoining room for the kids and outside there was a lovely garden with a summer house which the kids were allowed to play in. The owners were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble i felt i had known them all my life. We had a cooked breakfast in the morning which was good and then left to go to the holy island.
We will probably be back in berwick sometime in the future and will definately stay here!

  • Liked — friendly, clean and very central but quiet.
