First trip to Berwick and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay for our 2 nights. Stayed in family room (room 3) which comprises very good size room with double and single bed plus an adjoining room with single bed and en-suite, so ideal for family of 4. Both rooms had tv and selection of games. Very clean and comfortable accomodation, great breakfast and friendly hosts. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Room 3 on first floor has adjoining room with ensuite so ideal for family of 4.

A lovely comment thank you. Bedroom 3 is our family room so as stated is suitable for a family of 4, we also have a cot which can be used. The room is divided in two with the en-suite situated in the smaller part so we have found that this room is also suitable for persons who may normally want two single rooms. Thanks again for the kind comments we do try to serve our customers as we would like to be served when we get the chance to go away.

Typical drab Berwick on outside but first rate once past the front door! It just fitted my requirements and I intend to return shortly. Clean comfortable large room. I agree with the other recent reviews.

Thanks a lot to Alannah House. The place beats the best hotels I have been to. Service is impeccable, our room just perfect and spacious, the staff talkative (we learned quite a bit of the history of the building), there is a very nice garden (although it started raining just as we went out), excellent breakfast and our 12-month-old got her special own breakfast: porridge and milk. And the owner even helped us with some phone calls at no extra cost!

If only all B&Bs were of this quality! (The travel date was actually May 2011, not May 2012, but the dropdown menu does not give an earlier date!)

Just home from a two night stay here, we arrived to a warm welcome, and shown to our lovely spacious room, which had good en-suite facilities, a couple of comfy armchairs, a comfort basket with brolly, sewing box, shoe shine etc. A fridge with fresh milk for your cuppa, and wine glasses and bottle opener if you fancied wine, this would have been lovely to sit out in the garden and take advantage of the peace and quiet either in the summerhouse or the seating area. After a good nights sleep you will have an amazing choice at breakfast, which will keep you going all day! The Alannah is in a central but quiet area, all in all an excellent choice!

Room Tip: Any room would be perfect

This was our second trip to this lovely guest house. First from the St Cuthberts Way and now St Oswalds Way. The welcome couldn't have been nicer, Lynn is really nice and really takes care of you. The rooms are spotless and contain everything you could possibly need for your stay. Breakfast is wholesome and hearty and certainly leaves you full. I would highly recommend.

We were wet and muddy when we wheeled our bikes up to the entrance of Allanah House, but Lynn's welcome could not have been warmer. The room she showed us up to was a good-size - plenty of room for luggage and a couple of comfy chairs - and nice and light thanks to large windows. And there were some nice touches that made the stay all the more enjoyable: a small fridge, a jug of fresh milk, chocolates, games, an umbrella etc. Formerly used as quarters for married officers, the B&B is in a great position, just a short walk up the road to the historic ramparts (which surround the old town and offer a very interesting walk) and down to the main part of town with its shops and restaurants. Breakfast was good too. Just wished we could have stayed more than one night.

Room Tip: We were very happy with Room 1.

I was stranded in Berwick when the East Coast trains could go no further south due to a landslide. There was hundreds of people looking for accomodation that day so I walked until I found one with a vacancy so it was quite by chance that I stumbled upon Alannah House and am I glad I did. The welcome was one of the best I've ever had at a guest house, the room was cosy and comfortable and the breakfast was superb. If I ever have to stay in Berwick again I know where I will be heading.

Thanks for the good comments. It certainly was an exceptional afternoon, firstly the torrential rain then the chaos with the trains and stranded passengers, we're pleased we were able to accommodate you and genuinely hope you do get the chance to re visit Berwick and fully enjoy the town and countryside in the future and of course there'll always be a welcome at Alannah House.
