The Walls is in a lovely old house built on the Elizabethan city fortifications, its front door opening onto the wall walkway overlooking the River Tweed. From just outside the front door I saw an otter fishing and watched trains crossing the Royal Border Bridge. Berwick's centre, with a selection of restaurants, is just a minute away on foot.
Stephen and Louise were very welcoming and friendly. There's a comfortable sitting room separate from the dining room, and their free wifi worked well. The breakfast menu offered lots of choice beyond the full Northumberland breakfast - I had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon which was delicious.
I strongly recommend The Walls, and I'd certainly stay again.More
